Nice hotel, good location

The location was excellent. Being able to park was also good.

The eaves were on my husbands side of the bed and he hit his head several times, so restricted headspace. Also because we were in the eaves no view and also had to carry my bags up to floors as the lift only went up to the second floor.

A nice hotel but fell short of our expectations

The location itself was perfect to access the town centre and other attractions nearby. Both the bar and restaurant areas were warm and welcoming, and the option to park directly outside the hotel is very convenient.

When taking a shower, the bath quickly filled with water as drainage was exceptionally poor. Also, I find it frustrating when I have to request the shower gel to be topped up as this should already have been replenished prior to our arrival. The beef bourguignon served in the restaurant was very disappointing as it lacked taste and didn't seem to resemble the typical french dish, which was surprising at a french styled hotel.

Ideal location and very comfortable.

Hotel is close to Town centre very close to good restaurants and bars. Park opposite is nice to take a walk in. Very close to good shopping, other restaurants and bars etc. Excellent breakfast. Pleasantly lively bar. We will go back.

Our evening meal was disappointing. Food took a long time to arrive and was cold. Vegetables were hard. We received a price reduction and apology from the head Waiter. Fortunately the wine was excellent. As was the following mornings breakfast.

Not much soundproofing! Could hear people running showers and baths etc. I had pre-paid for room and breakfast but suffered an inquisition by night staff and restaurant staff again at breakfast. Found it a little belittling to be honest. For such a ‘nice’ hotel, I would have expected operations to be a little more slick.

We were in a basement room and there was a huge amount of noise from the floor above (possibly dining area therefore I feel the room was a little too expensive. Breakfast should be included if you have a basement room to account for the noise that is unavoidable

One night stay in a lovely hotel but I would avoid the basement room in warm weather

Great location. Walking distance to cafes and shops. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the bedroom was far too hot! The old-style window could only open so far and there was an old fan but it was far too noisy to use through the night. We accept it had been an exceptionally hot day (30+ degrees) however a decent fan would've helped. Thankfully we were only in Harrogate for one night.

Lovely building. Received an upgrade ( I think) . Big room, comfortable bed. Lovely shower room. Receptionist very friendly and efficient.

The bar/ restaurant staff were clearly having a bad day. They looked unhappy and seemed uncomfortable as a team. In the restaurant after saying we didn’t want puddings ( but not asked about whether we wanted coffees) we were handed the bill without having asked for it. It was only 9pm and we had half a carafe of wine left to drink . We felt like the staff had had enough and wanted us out. We had only been there for about 40 minutes. We were not being loud or drunk as were some other guests who were celebrating a birthday. The staff made little eye contact with any guests and were actually quite surly with everyone ( mainly the slim guy who seemed to be head of the bar- who seemed about to storm out ! ) I’m not sure that I have ever encountered such unfriendly staff ( I am excepting the receptionist who was very welcoming ) in many years of travel . It was quite disconcerting. I was also annoyed by having to pay £15 for parking for the hotel’s own parking spaces. I felt very exploited - it wasn’t the use of a local NCP car park . Overall much worse experience than when I last visited about 15 years ago. We were also disappointed by the food. Crab linguine with very little crab and a whole host of ingredients that felt thrown in to pad it out . Pine nuts and huge slices of sun dried tomato have no place in this dish. The chef should check out Nigella Lawson’s recipe. Far superior. I should also mention that our stay was the night that England’s Women’s team won the Euros. There was a lovely atmosphere locally with England having won but it felt very sour arriving at the hotel. I think this is the first first negative review I have ever posted. I always like to be positive but I really was quite taken aback by the rudeness of the staff; they just seemed unhappy in their jobs.

Not the usual experience I expect from Hotel du Vin

I’ve stayed at many Hotel Du Vin and this was similar in style to others Perfect location.

Arrived and room was ready - basement room but wasn’t aware the room door was off the road I had telephoned and asked for a walk in shower wasn’t bothered about a bath but the room had both and was nice Went to wash my glasses - the water was dirty brown same in the bath & the toilet Phoned reception and explained to the duty manager. He came and told me they had another room - walked along the road - the room had a shower over the bath I explained I’d phoned and couldn’t get into the bath - he said he had another basement room ( 3rd room ) bath separate shower Unpacked again (2nd time) went to check the water brown AND this time smelly. I phoned reception to be told by the duty manager he couldn’t do anything!!! Obviously I can’t stay in a room with brown water for whatever the reason He then sent a receptionist to move me again (4th move) into the main hotel - again the room had a shower over the bath not separate - I then explained again telling her I’d already explained to the duty manager. He then came and after him laughing at goodness knows what and me asking why he thought it was funny he moved me again (5th move) saying that because of all the disruption he was upgrading me. When I got to the 5th room with him it wasn’t an upgrade at all, exactly the same size ( bed etc) as the others but satisfactory. However see view in photo An hour later he appeared with a bottle of Prosecco as if that was going to put the whole situation right On top of this every single time I went to the bar I had to go and find someone to serve even though 2 receptionist could see people waiting
