The room was fantastic and we received a complimentary upgrade for my wifes 50th. The bar area and food was great and its just a short walk into town.

The hotel is ideally located within Harrogate and a pleasant walk into the central area of the town. The room was very nice with under floor heating to the bathroom and all complimentary items being of a very high standard.

The aircon within the room was slightly noisy.

Great location and comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent.

Sink in our room didn't work so filling up sink and emptying didn't work. We spoke to reception who assured us that it would be fixed but never was. We decided to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant. We were greeted well and was shown to a table but no one came to take a drink order for ages so we left. They just didn't seem to have enough staff. In the morning we were greeting by a very grumpy waiter. No smile or social skills and really off putting. The food at breakfast was excellent quality but far too many underplates which arnt necessary as the table was too small.

A hot, stressful and confusing second stay at the West Park

The first time we stayed we brought our little dog, and it was very dog friendly. The second stay could not have been more different…

We booked the West Park Hotel Penthouse specifically for my 40th birthday because air conditioning was advertised during a predicted heatwave. We had even cancelled a stay elsewhere for this reason. The AC was completely non-functional throughout our entire 2-night stay. We got no sleep the first night: it was stiflingly hot as the window only opened a few inches (onto a noisy road). So the next day (my 40th birthday) was spent exhausted, stressed, and very upset by how the hotel handled this. We raised the issue with staff immediately, and despite it later becoming clear this was a known issue, over the course of our stay, multiple staff members would: fiddle with controls, claim it’s “likely fixed,” tell us to wait 45 minutes “call me back if it’s still not working”. When we mentioned temperature readings from the Dyson Fan proving the room was getting hotter with AC on, they said things like “it needs time” (it had been on 6 hours) and “try setting it to 19.5 - it only works at that temperature,” and even “the Dyson fan doesn’t show temperature”. At some point they admitted to pre-existing hotel-wide compressor issues that wouldn’t be fixed during our stay, before going back on this and claiming our room was unaffected. It certainly was affected. When we requested a refund for the second night so we could salvage my birthday and stay elsewhere, they refused. Their offered solutions: a fan, a £50 refund on a £500 booking, and (bizarrely) vouchers for complimentary mulled wine.

Nice room terrible experience of breakfast 😢😢

Comfortable room good location

Went down for breakfast at 9am the waiting staff was not very attentive got the attention of the young man who served the table next to us. Asked how much longer we would be waiting he brought our breakfast at 10 past 10 so one hour 10 minutes wait the elderly couple sat next to us was still waiting also. When it did eventually arrive, It was stone cold so definitely disappointment.. I had to tell the young man we could not eat it. After waiting that amount of time. We lost the will to live and had to leave it. The manager said I will refund the cost you paid for breakfast. That surely is not the point. So yes got the money for breakfast we had prepaid but no real explanation of why it was 70 minutes wait he said oh people who came in after you may of got served first because they asked for different things. We asked for the basic English breakfast did not excuse the 70 minutes. the money we paid for breakfast refunded when we got no breakfast what so ever. Is not good enough just Lost the morning waiting for nothing. So even though the room was nice the whole experience was spoilt. So it's not the experience I want when I go away 😕.

It was a little overpriced - just small things like no hand cream/body lotion in the bathroom, the first night we had a bottle of milk, the rest of the nights it was just the small long life milk pots.

Two night stay in July

The property was clean and looked like it was recently refurbished/decorated. The breakfast was very good and we ate in the restaurant one night which was very good.

The air conditioning in the room did not work properly so a fan was provided but it was still uncomfortably warm in July. The hair dryer is a small travel dryer which cuts out when it gets to a certain temperature. Please provide a decent dryer as they're not expensive and makes a difference! The lift made a very strange noise while we were there, so much so that although we were on the 3rd floor we used the stairs.
