Shore Cliff Hotel

Location is gorgeous and our suite was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was included and was far better than most hotel breakfasts. Walkable to the beach and great for families.

The hotel was under massive, active construction throughout our stay, which was not shared when we booked. We got a notice 2 days before of renovations taking place but since we prepaid through Booking there was nothing we could do.

Paying $20 parking fees. It’s just ridiculous and half the parking lot was full of debri from the remodeling.

It was under renovation. Which was not disclosed when originally booking the room. Only a week before the trip were we notified of that. But it was alot more renovation than was described in the email. Very inconvenient

Pros: Great Location and good breakfast with waffles.

Cons: The room was very basic for the high cost. Nickle and dimed to make a one night stay on a Monday night for a normal room at $310 total. I have to give some background before the main complaint. I booked via Booking.com, so I was made aware of the resort fee for $35, but not the parking for $15, so that was a surprise. Booking.com also did not clearly state the pet policy. I did not check the hotel's actual website. I was unaware birds were not allowed. Yes, I brought a pet bird along for the stay, a small cockatiel that stayed in its cage. I have brought small birds in cages to many hotels, and it has not been a problem. The bird did not destroy the room. The bird did not cause extra cleaning for the cleaning crew. Upon check out, the clerk accused me of sneaking in the bird and charged a $50 fee. She said she saw me carry the cage to the car. The clerk appeared very satisfied that she "caught" me, as if she was a star detective. I did not sneak in the bird. If sneaking was my goal, I would not have parked in view of the front desk. I was simply unaware birds were not allowed. It was the way the situation was handled. I tried to explain, but I was cut off. I tried to have a conversation about the bird, but I was not allowed to. I was accused of subterfuge, when it just was not true. The bird literally caused zero issues for the staff. Dogs will leave fur everywhere, they could mildly scratch the floors, so I get the fee for a dog. I checked the website later, and true, it says pets other than dogs are not allowed. However, it also does not say that the fee will be automatically charged if the pet policy is violated (albeit unknowingly). As a result, this hotel stole $50 from me. That is misdemeanor petty theft. Yes I came back after getting my receipt to give the staff a piece of my mind. I could not let the theft go. The manager or owner will likely reply to this review and offer some sort of

The property was under construction, which we were made aware of, upon booking. The front desk staff were excited about the property being updated. Overall, our room was okay, not the nicest we’ve stayed at, but good enough for a weekend away. The included breakfast was your average hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, toast, oatmeal, and tamales which were good.

There seems to be an issue with ants. We had a few ants in our bathroom, mainly on the floor. We also saw a trail of ants on the wall in the seating area for breakfast.

The friendly staff and the beautiful views!!!!

The AC Unit in the room kept turning off on its own when we wanted it on!!!!
