Shell Beach Inn getaway in Pismo Beach

We loved the feel of The Shell Beach Inn; I believe they renovated it in 2009, and they did a great job! It’s cute, comfortable, close to everything Pismo, and a short drive to SLO. They were very friendly & helpful during check-in & check-out; we would stay here again.

Really lovely room, great sheets and towels, loved it and am planning to stay here in the future.

The location was perfect. It was a short walk to the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The Shell Beach Inn is located sort of at the end of the strip and was quiet. Earplugs were provided and I thought that was a nice touch and very thoughtful of light sleepers. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were soft, the decor was very nicer than your average room, ice was provided in a tiny ice chest, the towels were big and fluffy. We checked in later in the evening and lighting was sufficient. The host made it a simple check-in via phone.

The room was a bit small, so if there are more than two people in the room it would be a bit crowded. However, it was perfect for just two people. The only thing that could be improved is the shower water pressure and fixtures in the shower. Although, this would not have prevented me from staying at this Inn.

was forced into purchasing a room at this motel and was not able to get out of it. This was not the Motel that we requested. we clicked on the motel we wanted to stay at and paid and they sent us a confirmation for a totally different Motel so we had to pay for two motels that night .

Like friends invited you to stay at their cool motel!

Very charming, cosy place to stay with a rustic/retro vibe. It’s clear they have thought about your needs and have put a lot of care into making it comfortable and welcoming for guests. A quick walk got us delicious Mexican food at Zorro’s, and the ocean is also easily reached on foot.

It’s located along the 101 where you won’t get a great view and will hear traffic - not a complaint because it was to be expected. They kindly provide ear plugs on your bedside tables should you require.

it was a very spacious room, and although the location was in the center of everything pismo, it was a very quiet space and nice location to bring a boyfriend or a girlfriend maybe even a husband or wife for a weekend‘s stay. I will definitely be coming back. I will definitely recommend.

Beautiful compact room. Very well presented, super soft bedding and great mattress. Good location and pretty quiet for being on the main road.

Would be nice to have a blackout blind and perhaps a little smaller bed than expected, but those are tiny nitpicks on a very nice room.

It was basically a 10/10 but due to weather we lost power for a while. Not their fault.

Very poor

At check-in, which was contactless and worked well, we noticed that the bed was dirty in several places. After a phone call the hostess immediately took care and sent an employee over, we got a free upgrade to the suite! When we moved into the suite, the employee did a cleanliness check and said that everything was clean - we trusted her and that was our mistake, because after she left again, we noticed that this bed was also dirty (even worse than in the room before). We then wrote to the hostess again, this time we were told that there was a spare bed sheet in the closet - but this one was also dirty. We were assured that cleanliness was a top priority - but it couldn't be, because even the floor was extremely dirty. A look at the photo attached with my previously new (!!!) white sneaker socks says it all - these were so dirty that I had to throw them away afterwards. Conclusion: The hostess was initially very helpful and the free upgrade was very nice. However, for the much too high price even for the standard room, you should expect a minimum of cleanliness - so we advise to give this accommodation a wide berth.
