It was within walking distance to many great restaurants and the ridge walk. Baligen is within a family compound, v authentic. We had a 5 litre water cooler which was great. Also both rooms had AC.
The place is surrounded by construction work and far from the road, up and down stairs to carry luggage. Very dirty bathroom and kitchen and very sparsely furnished. You get what you pay for.

I saw the place and immediately decided not to stay. It was unsafe to do so as a solo female traveler.
I booked this place expecting a safe and comfortable stay, but I felt extremely unsafe from the moment I arrived. The entire property is under construction, with construction workers present near my room and throughout the site. As a solo female traveler, their inappropriate stares made me feel deeply uncomfortable, even in broad daylight. I could not imagine returning alone at night.
Beyond the safety concerns, the property is simply not in a liveable condition. There was no proper reception area, no assurance that other guests were staying on-site, and the overall atmosphere felt abandoned and unsafe. I immediately left and booked another accommodation because I knew I would not have been able to sleep there.
Despite these serious issues, management refused to provide a refund, and gave no answer to me as I brought up the issue, which is completely unacceptable. No guest should have to choose between their safety and their money. If you are traveling alone or value a secure and hospitable environment, stay far away from this place.

Beautiful balinese house, amongst the greenery. Great luminous room with a comfortable bed, ac and bathroom also ok. There's a big shared kitchen with filtered water available. Very nice area with two strategic entrances
Bedshits were pretty much consumed, and no mosquito nets at the windows. Hard to find from maps cause there are some building constructions going on around the property

The apartment was spacious and the large family bathroom was very convenient. The property also has a large adult pool and adjacent smaller kids pool. There were no issues with noise or anything and the location is good for those who don't want to be directly in the middle of town.
It's worth noting that although the property is called Baligen Bungalows they are in fact two storey not single storey as the name would suggest. The property can be accessed on two sides however both options take you through active construction sites with building work taking place on neighbouring properties. One side is worse than the other but even the better access route requires walking across an open muddy field, there seems to have been very little effort to put a proper path in. There is also active construction underway on site with more 'bungalows' being constructed.
The rooms were spacious enough but generally quite dated with old noisy air conditioning units, the construction has also been such that there are large gaps around the shutters. Also, though we stayed for four days our towels weren't replaced for the whole time and in fact apart from check in we didn't see the host at all during the stay.
In general the property was a little disappointing, especially as it wasn't one of the cheaper options, and it could be much improved by making a few small changes.

Venue is great, a good cafe nearby. Ideal for someone who wants to experience real Bali. Clean swimming pool.
Cleanliness and overall management could improve.
No toiletries in bathroom, our fan didn't work. Aircon is bit temperament.
There are ants everywhere. Mosquito nets would be great for someone with an infant.
There is a pesky frog at night.

We got upgraded to a double room bungalow and loved the views from the vernadah . The host went out of his way to help us while we were a little bit unwell . His kindness was exceptional and the pool very clean and picturesque. We loved having our own kitchen and bulk drinking water rather then wasting small water bottles like at other places . The furniture was beautiful and comfortable.
The bathtub was a little old but it was very clean and worked well including hot water . The bathroom was spacious so not really any problems .

- The houses are located on the on the side of a river in a lush garden with flowers, fruits, birds
- Really quiet at night, no bikes and cocks screaming, just river sound gave a good sleep
- Stable 20mb wifi in rooms, but you can also use shared gazebo for work
- Upstar rooms have awesome view on jungle and sky
- Big clean pool that can be used for sport (I swam up to 1 km)
- Covered parking for bikes in case of rain
- Owner's family and staff are friendly and helpful
- Close to the Ubud center, just 5 min ride or 10 min walk to the main street
- Came here to stay for a bit – and stayed for a few months!
- The owner's cute young dog Mojo came to play with me and my cat did not like him a lot, but it's a problem if you don't like dogs or have a cat :)
- There are frog and cicadas sounds at night, but I even liked them, so natural
