Cottage B&B Chateau Saintonge breakfast included

Pretty buildings, clean and well presented. Very friendly host. Excellent breakfast and great value for money!

Our hostess was exceptionally helpful and the breakfast was spectacular. Whole gite was clean and bed was very comfy and HUGE. Kitchen was tiny so not ideal if you are staying more than a few days and want to cook a real meal. Very characterful old stone building but did mean some of the doorways had to be ducked through.

We had no idea that door and stair access might be a little tricky to navigate. There was no advance information on this and it might be a real problem for those with creaky knees, or who are tall or wide.

The accommodation for visitors is in newly converted out-buildings. Ours, the four hundred year old ottage, was quirky, big enough for the two of us and our dog and was adequately equipped in the tiny kitchen. The shower upstairs was excellent and there were lots of towels. The present access to the first floor is very challenging, as described in their information, and a closed step staircase is on the cards. The bedroom is large and the bed very comfortable.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful host, Rosemary, waited up for us until past midnight as we were delayed. Gave us a warm welcome and then made the most wonderful breakfast for us and brought it to our cottage the next morning. Very comfortable and fresh bed. A charming period renovation with heaps of character.

I’m nit picking here but it was tricky to locate the white gates to the driveway in the dark with no streetlighting, but we nailed it on the 4th pass. LOL.
