Beautiful waterfront place that was both comfy and spacious

The view and balcony was absolutely beautiful. Being able to wake up in bed and watch the sunrise over lake como was awesome. I also can’t thank Oscar enough for the help and hospitality!

Above-and-beyond host, excellent location, would stay again

Excellent location, breathtaking views. The host let us check in a couple hours early. The value for the room was wonderful. I accidentally broke the front door key at one point and the host arrived with a spare within 15 minutes! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Dream location, relaxing waterside stay with a breath taking view.

Very very very well located in Varenna, extremely nice and available staff, spotless apartment with everything available at hand to cook, shower or just relax. A handbook was also available to summarize all important information about the area, very handy.

Nothing that is worthy of not booking the place. Missing labels on the colored trash bins, not being used to the system we did not know what color is for what.

Glorious view, charming and helpful host, loved our stay here.

Wonderful location, on the Lake’s edge, beautiful outlook. I hadn’t realised that the structure of the town of Varenna is such that there are a lot of stairs to get down to the waterfront, which is not a problem if you are at least reasonably fit. There are also internal stairs to get up to the apartment. Our host, Oscar, was charming and extremely helpful, and he carried our main cases down to the house, and up to the apartment for us. He was also very helpful with suggestions of activities to suit our taste. We hit a major public holiday, and so not only were there were a lot of tourists, there were also a lot of Italian people taking a short break. Getting a seat in a restaurant for lunch or for dinner was difficult, and booking ahead would be strongly advised. All in all, we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it. Don’t miss the Villa Monastero which is right next door, lovely house and excellent botanical garden.

Stairs for an octogenarian were a challenge, but I did manage. Pay attention to Oscar‘s suggestions about parking, as it is at a premium in Varenna!

Fabulous lake front view accommodation in Varenna

Cosy little apartment with incredible lake front views in the very heart of Varenna on a small side street off the main square, 5-10 minutes walk to anywhere in town, 12min walk from the train station or ferry. There is no direct car access to the apartment and getting there includes climbing some stairs, which is the case for most stays in Varenna. Since it was raining during my entire stay I did not get to enjoy the balcony overlooking the lake watching sunsets, moody atmosphere was enchanting non the less. The balcony is perfect to enjoy a glass of wine listening to serene waters of the lake. Note that there are no wine glasses available at the apartment though, but it is well equipped with cookware, plates, stovetop in case you would like to prep your own dinners. La Bottega di Varenna is a mini family own grocery shop that has grocery essentials.

bonitas vistas, pero pésimo alojamiento.

Las vistas desde la habitación son preciosas, pero es lo único bueno. es difícil reseñar algo más positivo.

es una habitación-cocina muy antigua, duermes al lado de electrodomésticos viejos que hacen ruidos constantemente (la nevera, la caldera de gas), ventanas viejas en mal estado, el baño terrible, la ducha se encharca en cada uso y entra frío por la vieja ventana, no funcionan las luces y no hay ningún extra de gel o champú. No tiene TV, acceso muy estrecho con escaleras empinadas. No tiene parking cercano. La comunicación con el anfitrión fue errónea y no nos dio la clave correcta para obtener la llave de entrada y estuve un buen rato probando la que me había mandado. Pagas el sitio y las vistas, pero es un abuso excesivo el precio por lo poco cuidado que está el lugar. no lo recomendaría.

Apesar das dificuldades, a vista vale a pena!

A vista é maravilhosa. O colchão é ótimo e os lençóis também. O anfitrião deixou capsulas de café e mais uns agrados.

Como outras pessoas já disseram é um lugar difícil de acessar para quem tem malas. O anfitrião conseguiu para nós um taxi (10€) quando chegamos, mas na volta não e pedimos ajuda no Hotel Victória e eles nos possibilitaram um Shuttle (30€). Mesmo indo de taxi há ainda as escadas para chegar no apartamento e as escadas dentro do apartamento. Banheiro antigo
