Casa Garden

The location of this apartment is perfect with an outstanding terrace and view of the lake--much more impressive than in the pictures or description (see my pictures). It's truly stunning any time of the day. You will have a hard time beating this view because the terrace extends to a garden and includes a large arc of the lake. However, the terrace is oddly under-furnished with only a couple of benches--no table for a drink or patio furniture. Still, the location is so quiet even though it is close to the lively piazza, you probably won't care that you just have a bench to sit on. It is also an easy and beautiful walk to the ferry. However, do know that the actual apartment is basic and needs some work. The internet connection was poor and we needed to restart the router daily. Only one person at a time could be on the wifi--sometimes a second person couldn't even load email. This is important to know if you have any important work to do online.

Besides the poor internet connection, the shower doors have a gap so there will be a fair amount of water on the floor every time someone uses it. Thankfully, there were ample towels to help with that. The comfort of the beds could be improved. Also, be aware that there is no dishwasher or oven, although those were listed in the description. All that being said, know that you are paying for the amazing location and incredible views. You will probably be out and about and not need the apartment much.

The location is excellent, with a private door that gives access to the main walkway of Varenna, and a lower level deck with an excelent view of the lake.

The listing didn't make me clear that it was a private property and not a hotel. After I arrived and started receiving the explanations about the room that I understood that.

Great location. Overall size. Welcome from host. It was also clean with a comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked very well.

The apartment itself is rather tired and could do with a refresh. The price charged is rather high for the internal state of the apartment. There is no garden furniture on the terrace overlooking the water as pictured. Just one garden bench for two people.
