A hotel that has seen better days, worn rooms, carpet cleaning is needed, the railing on the balcony really needed some fixing and the bathroom door had to be fixed as it could not be closed, fast service on getting it fixed. The common spaces where lovely and there is a special atmosphere for an old place like this.

Great view of the North Sea and beach! Our suite was very nice, but the furniture needed some updating! Also, the air conditioner was extremely noisy and when it was on, it stayed on without shutting down when the temperature reached its point… Was disappointed that there was no common areas in the hotel for sitting as opposed to just staying in your room!

Lovely property but negative experience when other family staying there left passports and money in safe. They received a call that they could come back and pickup the passports and cash but upon return were told the cash was gone.

The hotel lobby and hall are among the most beautiful I have seen in any hotel. Which made it even more of a shame to discover that the room itself was so disappointingly average. Was also rather irritated to receive a phone call 10 minutes after checking in to inform me that I needed to pay more city tax on top of my bill, which had already been settled.

Very convenient arrival from the tram. Hotel is nice, although the rooms are a bit dated. Perfect location to head to the beach and all it offers. Wifi signal was pretty weak from the room, but possibly because we were on the end. Shower is a bit difficult to climb into if you're on the shorter side. All in, I'd definitely recommend this historic hotel and would stay there again if I return to the area.

Property has potential,but not with current management... outside looks great. So does dinning places and hall... Corridors, are ok... But rooms... Very outdated, dirty and small.. bathroom needs remodeling years ago.. cleaning... What cleaning?..we got our bathroom floors more dirty after cleaning was done! And they left cleaning chemicals next to toothbrush.. no towels replaced. And when we told from desk, just reply- will leave message for morning shift..??? So I guess no managers in evening? And on check out- we told all that. Not forgetting mold in shower.. person didn't do anything, he wasn't even surprised at our complaints -it was ordinary thing for him.. in guess I hear it son often, they stop dealing with complaints..

Tried to charge us extra at check in even though we had paid extra when reserving. Downgraded our room to smaller than we reserved. Then when complained we were moved to the room we reserved. Reception never answered calls when we needed assistance. Told us they would refund certain fees but did not do so.

The hotel rightly justifies its high rating based on its location, appearance, and history. The staff is very friendly, but there were two minor issues. Even over the phone, the hotel couldn't clearly explain where to find and access the reserved parking space. This was somehow annoying, costing additional time and a bit of a parking fee. The minibar refill policy was also somewhat confusing. Water and soft drinks were refilled, but there was no price list for these drinks in the room. The used drinks had to be paid for upon check-out. Overall, the hotel is a very good choice for a stay in Scheveningen.

Everything was far below expectations for a luxury 5 star hotel. First of all the selection of food for the xmas brunch did not provide value for money. No bathrobes and shoes available in the hotelroom. They were available at the reception but this was not mentioned nor offered. They were not offered at the wellness either, until I requested them. The bath in the room did not even have a bathtap, only a standard small showerhead. For breakfast we were not guided to a prepared table. We found a table and had to ask someone to clean it. Other tables were not cleaned either before they placed the plates and cutlery. They ran out of petit pains whilst they had an excessive amount of croissants. We paid for a late checkout but houdejeepung were not aware and knockec on the door two times. The door was locked after the regular.checkout time. The incompent personnel at the reception asked me to wait in the line in order to be assisted. Three employees were trying to check someone in behind one computer. When they finally found someone to help me with the locked door, he guided me to open the door, but this guy did not even know how the elevator worked. We had to tell him that he had to insert his key card before pressing the proper floor button. Still the card was not working, so I was unable to leave the room and return. I’ll not book this hotel again and recommend travellers to book any average 4 or even 3 star hotel instead

I was there for a wedding so this hotel would not have been my choice. The location itself is beautiful and central to everything. The hotel property appears grand from the outside but is very dated on the inside. It definitely needs a lift.
