Unfortunately, our stay did not meet the expectations that come with the price we paid. The apartment did not feel particularly clean, with cobwebs in several corners, curtains coming loose, and a very worn out couch that had almost no cushioning left, we were practically sitting on the frame. Considering we paid over €1,000 for a two-night stay, I expected the property to be maintained to a much higher standard. The parking situation was also disappointing. We reserved and paid for a parking space for three full days, but it wasn’t available until after 11:00 PM on the evening we arrived. On the morning of checkout, we had to vacate the space by 10:00 AM because the owner did not respond when we asked where to leave the garage remote. Only three to four hours after we had already left did the owner reply, asking whether I had parked my car somewhere else and saying I could have left it there for free because the next guests didn’t need the space. By then, I had already parked elsewhere and taken public transport into the city center, so returning was not a practical option. Another major issue was the extremely long list of house rules that came with the threat of losing our security deposit if any of them were not followed. It felt less like staying in a holiday rental and more like worrying about accidentally breaking one of countless rules. For a premium-priced stay, this created an unnecessarily stressful experience. The lack of ventilation made the stay even more uncomfortable. None of the downstairs windows could be opened, and because there was no air conditioning, the apartment became very warm. Although a few fans were provided, they only circulated the hot air and did little to improve the temperature. Especially during warmer weather, this made the property quite uncomfortable to stay in. For a property in this price range, I expect prompt and reliable communication.
