Wouldn’t stay here again.

The Big screen tv

- The electricity tripped multiple times, when we use the toaster and more than one of the stove tops. - No candles, torches available for power outages - one-ply toilet paper - only one dishcloth available - no brooms or mops available - chairs and couch fabrics are stained - diluted sunlight liquid in hand wash containers - only one warm blanket - Freezer drawer had a piece of crayfish shell left there by previous people as well as frozen brown liquid. It smelled very bad and we had to clean it ourselves. - The braai wasn’t cleaned, still had the used charcoal briquettes in the braai, which we had to clean. - Jacuzzi electricity is not part of the booking costs, we were asked to do an immediate payment upfront before our stay. This was only communicated to us a week before our stay. We booked 27 June. - The electricity tripped while we were out for lunch and the owner message and phoned us, because the housekeeper didn’t have internet and couldn’t gain access to the house. - poor security, the trelli’s can’t lock.

Miserable Accommodation in Paternoster

The advert differs alot from the reality. Jacuzzi is not private, out in the open, cold and windy and only available at an extra R250/day?? When the Jacuzzi is on you can't use the oven, kettle or toaster. You can't prepare food while the children are in the Jacuzzi

This property is in terrible need of proper maintenance and management. The stove has plates that don't work and/or trips the power. Cookerhood not working & no light, loose wires dangling from the walls in bedrooms and Braai where TVs have been removed?? Couches too dirty to use. Floors sticky and filthy. Curtains torn & no runners. Braai is useless with inadequate utensils, broken grids & no stands.

Comfortable beds and tidy property.

The front of the property is close to the roadside with a large clear window offering no privacy to jacuzzi and braai area especially after dark. Wall mounted televisions have been removed from the bedrooms with unsightly wires and holes exposed. No cupboards or drawers, only hanging rails. Sofa and chair fabrics are grubby/stained. 1 roll of toilet paper for all guests' use in main bathroom. No complimentary tea/coffee/ wood or anything else to welcome guests. Drained, uncovered swimming pool.

I should have checked the house on Google Maps

The bed in the main bedroom was really comfortable. The TV's were huge. It's a nice house for entertaining a big group of people, as there's lots of space. The main bathroom has a bath and a shower, which was great. The lounge is really comfortable.

I didn't put the location into Google maps, which I should have, as the house is near the location. Had I realised this, I would not have booked this house. Also, there is a road right outside the house, and as the house is surrounded by a very low wall, everyone can look into the garden and onto the jacuzzi. We did not use the jacuzzi because of this. Additionally, regarding the jacuzzi, we had to book a 30-minute slot in order to use it. We were not allowed to switch it on ourselves. Their housekeeper had to do this, and it took about 2 hours to warm up. This is another reason we decided not to use it. And lastly, there was no salt, pepper, sugar, teabags, nothing at all, so if you stay there, you literally have to take every single thing you may need. I run an Airbnb in Greece, and I provide all the basics, so I was shocked that there was nothing.

We'll be back.

Close to everything, as expected from a small town. Loved the fact that we could walk to the beach. The house itself was clean and incredibly cosy, and with the wind howling as it does on the west coast, staying indoors was great. The beds were comfy and the living area is spacious. Even having an ice machine was a plus.

There had been a couple of items not working at the time of our stay. The lights in the braai area and the jacuzzi. Not a major inconvenience though as, with the bad wind, it wouldn't have been great to be in the jacuzzi anyway.
