Buyer beware. Fake photos, no sleeper couch in the lounge, by arrangement at additional fee. :(

There is nothing to Like about this property. The photos are misleading and about 10 years outdated. The property is in serious need of maintenance inside and outside. Would not recommend this property.

The photos are misleading. The property inside and outside are in serious need of maintenance and a really good clean. The swimming pool water level was below the suction line. The swimming pool water was dirty. The loungers around the pool were broken, a safety issue as the raffia would definitely, if not vigilant would cause some serious wounds.

Beautiful, peaceful, friendly.

Patience and Fred were both amazing hosts; attentative, friendly, and saw to our needs. The property and location were exquisitive. I would like to visit the property again. With some thought to the finer details and some rearranging of furniture with users in mind, the experience will certaintly receive my 5 stars.

We upgraded halfway through our stay to a bigger place, and in both the location of the TVs didn't make sense. The rooms themselves seem to have been slapped together at the last minute without throught regarding practicality, with random furtniture and little functionality.We didn't have any cutlery even though advertised as self-catering. In our last unit, which faced the pool area, there were flashlights inside, by the kitchen area, which was strange, even through they weren't functioning. In our first room, a toaster oven was situated on top of a cabinet, making it impossible to use the hot plates. The positioning of the cabinet also, which housed the TV, made no sense.

Friendly helpful staff. Clean Quiet Lovely environment

Could do with: A waist high counter for kettle and microwave. A bit dangerous down below. A shelf or 2 in the wardrobe. A little table for toiletry bag, charging laptop. A chair for handbag or clothes and to sit on at table. A clean bath towel each. A notice about wifi password and other directions for room like shower pipe system. A couple of useful things for the suggested self-catering facility A coffee machine in the main house to offer a decent coffee to guests in the morning. A pretty clean pool would be lovely as we were hoping for a cold plunge. If these things were in place we would be more than happy to return and recommend. Many thanks

STILL TRAUMATISED.

WORST NIGHTMARE IMAGINABLE! CRIMINALS/CONS/ IT OPERATES AS A MONEY LAUNDERING BUSINESS. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE EXTORTED, DEFRAUDED, THREATENED, INTIMIDATED, ABUSED. TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE.

Buchan Estate markets itself as a pet friendly self catering cottages. From the dismal pictures of the interiors, that it was not going to be a comfortable stay but they offered various cottages of varying sizes and the garden looked huge. I was looking for space traveling with three PPD GSDs. Long story short...what followed has to be the worst experience I have ever had , I was conned, robbed , mislead, defrauded, lied to, screamed at, Intimidated, not only did i find more than eight button spiders, I was bitten by one. Before any of the nightmare began , they had agreed to a memorandum of understanding that I could stay till the end of the month.,I paid them everyday. I paid 4.5k for 3 nights in a filthy, cold cottage.. when I had paid what we had agreed I pay per week which is R3500, I was threatened that I better leave or else. I obliged, after they had switched off the water and electricity. Moving out in ice cold weather, three dogs in the rain. There are hardly Ubers available in that area. After 90 minutes a friend of mine in jhb had to order and Uber for me. Absolute hell. It operates as a money laundering operation. I was the only person there for the duration of my time there. Cherry on top. They wanted to charge me R1000 per dog per night because all suddenly they were not dog friendly..and they had never had big dogs. Had I not had my dogs to protect me , I can't say what might have happened. I felt unsafe and that I had been a victim of a bunch of criminals. Stay away!

Nice big grounds for my dog.

It was freezing and there were no heaters. The beds were still wrapped in plastic and the roof leaked. For R1800 a night you can get much better.

Stunning period architecture and outstanding landscaping. Proximity to the airport; and other tourist attractions eg Table Mountain, hiking trails to Chapman’s Peak that provide beautiful panoramic views of the area.

Won’t send my worst enemy there.

I disliked the fact that I was greeted by very friendly staff and owner only to find the place riddled with bedbugs and mites in the bed and furniture. The staff and owner all clearly aware of the issue. But when I address the issue it’s met with pathetic stories of wind direction affecting thatch falling on the bed. After over a week since I complained I get sent a “reward” of R300 after I’ve just spent R12,000.00 on 8 nights there. I left the property on day 3. Bookings.com are not taking me seriously and I feel quite insulted by the whole situation. I think I’ll put this app to rest moving forward.

Value for money but lots could improve.

There was no breakfast. Property needs work pool was not in working order, showers need new shower heads this is very important to a lot of guests needs good strong showers.

The showers need proper pressure and better shower heads, each person should have a remote to access property at will not have to call host to get in and out as this compromises privacy workers on the property need to not look into the rooms, we noticed one worker ongoingly trying to watch us through the window.
