Castelo dos Tucanos Host

Loved this hostel, it is a literal castle. Really amazing facilities, great breakfast, beautiful property itself and the staff and volunteers were amazing - shoutout to Isobel, thanks for making my stay so good!!

The location was great, although a bit isolated so required a lot of ubering. The pool was very nice as was the breakfast.

It always rubs me the wrong way when a hostel has more volunteers than employees. Volunteers did everything from cleaning (Which may be why the room was not very clean) to breakfast to check in (where I also had issues).

I heard about this hostel from travelers across South America before arriving in Rio. Staying here truly maximized my enjoyment of Rio. They cultivate making friendships with the best breakfast I've ever seen at a hostel and super warm staff, Melina and Mohamed welcomed me when I arrived and immediately made me feel at home. There are also daily activities within and outside the hostel. I can't recommend this place enough and I'm so thankful that I heard about it before coming to Rio.
