Nice property, shame for inappropriate and disruptive landlord

Property is really nice, good size and location, however house advertised as accommodating 5 people and whilst it has 5 beds the living and kitchen area only accommodates 4 persons. There are 4 seats in kitchen and 4 in living room.

Sadly the landlord for this property is not the best. Messaged at 3 am to tell me worker was planned to come at 9 am next day. Obviously didn’t get the message and so worker woke up whole family who had just driven 8 hours from London night before. Had this property booked from April and stayed in July and landlord did not tell us about the booking despite claiming it was pre booked months ago. Worker stated the work had just been booked that morning so not sure if this is a confusion or dishonesty from the landlord. Worker then came again the next day half hour before check out unannounced and pressured us to let him in to finish work despite making the women in our family uncomfortable to get ready with him inside. Reached out to landlord for help and was completely ignored after their initial apology on first night. No compensation offered for what was a very disrupted stay and supposed to be a joyful occasion for a university graduation in the family. Very disappointed with customer service.

Great family house in York

Great location and the house had everything we needed.

Previous guests hadn't reported a sink leak, just put a pan under it, the owner was very responsive when we let him know, and set to getting in sorted.

For 5 of us it was comfortable, the bedrooms were well appointed with clean linens, host communicated well.

Clean bedding. Roomy. Nice to have a kitchen. Host was communicative and friendly.

It needs a good once over. A few cobwebs/spiders, marks on walls, mildew in tub/shower, sofa needs legs, yard/curb appeal could use some sprucing up.

Great little bolt hole for a stay in York.

Location was perfect and it was a really quiet estate so no noise at night. Ideal for a weekend stay in York. Really clean and tidy and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Beds comfy and decorated really tastefully. The park and ride system is fantastic and less than a 10min drive away from the house. We would certainly recommend using this.

York is an expensive place to visit and this was expensive for the one night be all relative with regards the hotels in the area. The property was over looked at the back with a small garden and the grass had taken over in the beautiful sunshine. We were 4 adults and so relaxing in the front room was quite cramped as there is only the one sofa and 1 chair.

It was clean and welcoming and met our needs. There was an EV charger for our car.

The small room was a bit too small but ideal for a child. The other two room were a good size and the lounge and kitchen a decent size and comfortable.

Perfect place to stay. 5* from us.

The property was in very good order and only minutes from a bus stop which was very handy to get in and out of the town centre. There was ample room to move about in the house, no clutter. Everything was provided for and the bed was extremely comfortable. We only used the one bedroom. Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe - a plus in my book. Kitchen was of a good size with everything you required to make a meal (if you wished to) or just to sit and relax with a takeaway. Bathroom light and airy and had good working extractor fan and an excellent shower. Lighting was good and also good sized mirror. Toiletries supplied. Towels supplied. Hairdryer supplied. Plenty of mirrors throughout the property. There was also a loo downstairs, very handy if someone is in the shower. Lovely decor throughout and set time for heating. Exceedingly clean property. Michael was the perfect host and was in contact to check all was as expected. TIP: If ordering a taxi always mention it is St Josephs Court off Foxwood as apparently there is another one on the other side of town.

Not a game changer just my own observation but when dark it was a little difficult to get the key in the front door lock...perhaps a sensor light would help? Blind in kitchen had fallen down at some stage and not been re-hung.

Recommend to my friends

Spotless clean, quiet, warm, the house with flavor of freshness and cleanliness. Comfortable beds with crispy sheets and orthopedic mattresses. You can find anything you need in the kitchen. There was a little garden (backyard) where you could sit at the garden table and relax. We got to the city by car 15 mins. Parking is right outside the house. There was a charger for electric cars. I will definitely come back. Thanks Michael.
