Peak View - Modern Cottage

Il cottage è in un luogo molto tranquillo, in una zona di casette a schiera nei pressi di Buxton, paesino del Peak District da cui si raggiungono facilmente le splendide dimore storiche che avevamo programmato di visitare: Chatsworth House e Haddon Hall. In casa non manca niente: wi-fi, forno a micro-onde, lavatrice, 3 bagni e una grande TV

La pulizia in casa non era soddisfacente, sia in cucina che in bagno: briciole sul tavolo, piani sporchi, ragnatele nella ventola di aspirazione, uno strato di muffa umida nella guarnizione della lavatrice. Il cottage è un po' difficile da trovare e le indicazioni sul sito non erano corrette, per cui abbiamo fatto un po' di fatica. Nei paraggi non ci sono ristoranti, bisogna andare in paese e soprattutto va cercato un posto dove mangiare ben prima delle 20, perchè poi la cucina dei locali chiude

The house is a very well equipped, modern home on a relatively new estate with private parking. It was nice to have access to a small garden at the back for early evening drinks. Having 2 bathrooms was great with 4 adults staying. Buxton and the surrounding area was great for long walks and sightseeing. We even managed outdoor swimming at Hathersage Lido. Mark was great at providing information about the property prior to arrival and during our stay.

I had contacted the property in advance to check that bedding was synthetic due to a strong allergy to feathers. I was assured that the bedding contained no feathers and this was accurate. However, the living room had two sofas whose back cushions were duck feather filled and there were piles of duck feather filled cushions on top! Both bedrooms had feather cushions which we moved to the landing. I avoided the living room most of the time in favour of the open plan kitchen / diner with access to the garden. Telephone reception in the house is non-existent so when we woke to no electricity and no wifi on our first morning we had to wander around to find out what was happening. Thankfully, a neighbour had just driven down the road to get information. The nearest pub was a 35 minute walk away and upper Buxton about 45 minutes walk away so you do need a car most of the time.

Clean, modern and bright. Everything worked. Good position for where we wanted to be near family in Tideswell.

No tea towels that we could find.

Nice modern build with enormous potential. We enjoyed watching the cows on the hill.

Lack of attention to detail. No local guides provided, ie pubs, buses, etc. No instructions how any of the appliances work. Kitchen not well equipped, No TEA TOWEL despite previous people mentioning it, most things needed washing before use, some items chipped. Garden very weeded, windows dirty. Didn't feel like a holiday home.
