The host was amazing. He was very responsive and solution driven. When we had issues or questions, his response was almost immediate, and the solution just as quickly coordinated. Centrally located near the St. Joseph Cathedral in Hanoi's Hoan Kiem/Old Quarter area, this home was a good base in exploring all that Hanoi has to offer. You are just minutes away by foot to Hoa Lo Prison and Hoan Kiem Lake, which is great because this is where most of the good restaurants in Hanoi are located. You are also just minutes away by car from major attractions in Hanoi such as Tay Ho (West Lake), HCM Mausoleum, and the Imperial Citadel of Thanh Long. There were enough beds for all of us (there were 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 kids). Running water was strong and heated. Everything is as described and shown inn the property posting, so it is how you see it.

An area for improvement, especially during the hot summer months in Hanoi where the heat index can easily exceed 45 Celsius like in the time of our stay, would be the air conditioning units. The ground floor AC was perfectly cool, while the AC in the 2nd floor room was decently cool. The rooms in the 3rd and 4th floors can be upgraded. HOWEVER, though the 3rd floor room's AC needed a technician to fix it, the host IMMEDIATELY coordinated this. Looking at our chat history, although we told them about the AC issue at around 9PM, he was able to get somebody to visit and fix it at 7am the next day! And when we got back from our tour that day, the AC was fixed. So overall, this was still not so much of an issue for the rest of our stay. Nonetheless, as Hanoi's summer can be really hot and humid, this still falls as an area for improvement.

The location is nice.

Automated doors is too much of a hassle, risky on getting locked out of the room.

Very dirty, mouldy and cameras everywhere in the common areas. Garbage left from previous people, an old loofa in the shower, hair in the drains, no light or soap in the main bathroom. Seems like it’s set up to be a hostel, and not as a group house as advertised. Every room self locked behind you so you had to take your key with you every time you went in the common areas. No option to pay by card. It was cash only…which would’ve been fine if it was clearly stated when booking, but it wasn’t.
