Beautifully located house with a fantastic view of the Sassi from the terrace. It is one of the most stunning panoramas in Matera. The room is spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with all amenities. There is even sugar and milk, as well as a generous selection of coffee capsules for the coffee machine. As a gift from the hosts – a bottle of local wine. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom is beautifully designed in a rock cave. The apartment is perfect for romantic getaways for two or for family stays.
– The listing on Booking.com mentions breakfast, and in the reviews I found descriptions from guests saying that the fridge was fully stocked with breakfast products. We only received supermarket rusks, Nutella, and cornflakes. Either the hosts have withdrawn the breakfast offer without informing guests, or the previous guest reviews were not entirely accurate. The hosts should clearly inform guests about the lack of a proper breakfast, as the listing description is clearly misleading. We were disappointed.
– The description of the amenities does not fully match reality – there is no washing machine or whirlpool bathtub in the property.
– The property is not suitable for business guests – despite requesting it twice, I did not receive a properly issued invoice with my company details.

Gianfranco’s apartment is gorgeous and unique. It was the most special stay of our whole trip to Italy. The view on the terrace over the city is stunning and so peaceful. The cave apartment is cosy and everything has been done to a very high standard. We were even provided some lovely food which was delicious. A perfect stay, I would stay here again and recommend to all visiting Matera.
