About this house rental
In an excellent position, at the entrance of the Sassi districts and 500 meters from the central square, Lamia Matera 11 enjoys a very suggestive view, overlooking the deep furrow of the Matera ravine.
The original building, called lamione or lamia, with its characteristic barrel vault, has been recovered according to the lines of contemporary design to give life to refined, surprising and relaxing environments.
The house is spread over three different levels, with the bedrooms located on the terminal part. On the ground floor the large living room with kitchenette is embellished with a golden staircase that winds around the two-burner fireplace. On this level there is one of the bedrooms, with an elegant bathroom, overlooking the murgia. On the lower floor, entirely carved into the rock, a welcoming and spacious room, also with a breathtaking view. Another double bedroom, with bathroom, is located on the upper level, under the original tuff vault.
The play of windows, the large windows open enchanting views of the surrounding landscape and allow you to feel immersed in the surrounding nature, while still being in the heart of the ancient districts. From here you can move comfortably on foot to explore the beauty of the millennial city.

Wow this is a fantastic property. Everything is super clean and has been recently remodeled which was a plus. The location was so good! So many great restaurants and bars that were all walking distance. It’s right in the old town so the history surrounding the apartment was amazing. Check in was so smooth and the hosts were so kind. They answered all our questions quickly and were so accommodating to all our needs. I would love to stay again on our next visit. Highly recommend this place!

I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Matera. The home had so many brilliant design features and was a wonderful oasis. The reality surpassed the photos. Eustachio and Benedetto were extraordinarily generous and accommodating. Beautiful, relaxing views of the canyon and just steps from the money shot of Matera. Parking, which can be an issue in Matera, was a breeze.

Our family (parents and two adult sons) visited Matera for the first time over the Christmas holidays. I picked this spot for the location and for the beautiful design. We were not disappointed! The location at the top of the hill overlooking the old city was fantastic and the interior of the apartment is every bit as beautiful and comfortable as the photos depict. Eustachio and Benedetta (and son, Vito)could not have been more gracious, helping reserve a very close parking space, leaving a delicious large breakfast with fruit and pastries and being available for any questions we might have. They also helped arrange for a wonderful guide, Renato, who I also highly recommend. Matera itself is stunning and fascinating. All in all, we had a wonderful stay in this magical place. I can’t imagine staying any other place in Matera!

The only thing more wonderful than the this home are the hosts. Benedetta and Eustachio and Vito were thoughtful, generous, and so helpful. Matera is a place everyone should experience to understand what is possible in the restoration of a once forgotten city. The whole stay was an inspiration.
