Harrowing experience

Location

We couldn’t recommend this 1st floor apartment, despite its good location. We had a dreadful experience – being locked in the building when the only entrance/exit (the main door onto the street) malfunctioned. To cut a long story short, the agent, Cocoonr (which seems to operate as a sub-agent of Booking.com) was of no assistance whatsoever and flatly refused to arrange for someone to come and fix the lock. They didn’t even seem to appreciate (or even care about) the serious nature of the problem and pretty much hung us out to dry. We had no way of knowing if/when someone would come and fix the door. Had we not eventually devised a way of getting out ourselves, who knows how long we might have been trapped in the building. Once out, re-entry was not going to be possible, so we had to source alternate accommodation for our remaining two nights, pack up our gear and move, causing us considerable anxiety and stress and losing the best part of a day of our holiday. It’s a very old building and things are bound to go wrong. The worn, ancient staircase in the building is supported by a steel prop and the chalky red paint on the stairwell walls comes off if it contacts luggage or clothes. The windows and shutters in the apartment are a bit tricky to operate and we felt less than safe at night. We will never book any accommodation with Cocoonr again.

The floors are really beautiful but creak a lot so at night if we got up to use the bathroom it was noisy. We also experienced street noise on a few nights.

Short trip - wonderful charming apartment full of character

We had a lovely couple of days in Rennes, the apartment was right in the center of town and close to amenities. The apartment was bright and airy and has a wonderful character and charm. My wife even said she would love to live there. We came with a 1 year old and the hosting company where able to provide us with a travel cot and high chair at a small additional cost which was very helpful. If we come back to Rennes we would book again!
