Best reception of our tour. The host came herself to let us in and explain everything. It's a beautiful old house in an amazing historical street within the city wall/moat. Wonderfully and recently decorated with vintage pieces (except slightly bizare, modern but fun shower behind bed), well utilised old cupboards for washbasin and wardrobe, Great dining area and well stocked kitchen. Good patio, where we could also store the bicycles. Great breakfast.

As the breakfast tables were set up rather early and carefully on the previous day, we felt awkward at moving things around so we could eat our evening meal, made in the wonderful self-catering kitchen. Our first floor room had a shared toilet (just the toilet, not shower or wash basin - they were private), which is not ideal. Although we understand that this is because of the limitations of the old house lay-out, having a hand wash basin in the toilet area would be good, as we felt that it was quite likely that we or the other guests would be opening and closing the door with dirty hands.

The house was an outstanding property and beautifually decorated. The location was very good, in a quite street but still handy for the town centre

The room was not ensuite, there was a shower in the room but the lavitory was across the hall. also this was not made clear on the website

Phantastic, we'll be back!

The owner has transformed an old townhouse into a gem with modern amenities renovating the old things, where possible. Very charming and lovely. The breakfast is certainly not typically French and fulfills every need. Plenty to eat and drink! The staff is very friendly and really helpful. You name it and she tries to fulfill your wish, if it is at all possible. One walks appr. 7 minutes to the center and in ca. 45 min around this pittoresk city. It is much nicer than depicted in the Chtˋi movie. Certainly worth a trip. We certainly will come back to "Phillipine" and Bergues.

Une étape parfaite à Bergues

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet établissement lors d'une étape, et tout était absolument parfait ! L’accueil a été chaleureux, la chambre confortable, très propre et décorée avec goût. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et délicieux, de quoi bien démarrer la journée. Le lieu est idéalement situé, en plein centre de Bergues, ce qui nous a permis de flâner dans les charmantes rues du village, avant de terminer la soirée sur la terrasse d’une taverne située à quelques pas seulement. La vue depuis notre chambre sur le canal ajoutait encore à la magie du séjour. Un bel endroit qui nous a replongés dans l’ambiance du film Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis. Et comme ils disent là-bas : on a braillé qu’une seule fois… en partant 😉😉
