we struggled locking and unlocking our door as it was a key rather than a FOB, we got the hand of it eventually

The staff was excellent. The lady who checked is in was sincere, friendly and helpful.
Also noted her helping with cleaning. Hard working and deserves a mention and a raise!
Location is great to explore the town

Room very cold on arrival and curtains cover radiator which makes it less effective

The location excellent.
Food excellent.
Bar/restaurant staff excellent
I paid an extortionate £520 for a room with a sea view, got a bit part view of sea!!! Room service atrocious, shower room could do with tlc. It was tiny and cold, no heater or towel rail. I had to ask for clean towels on more than 1 occasion, also toilet roll, teabags. It is not somewhere to stay, if you need to rest in day. No lift available. As you put your dob they know age on booking. I am able bodied but not everyone is.

I stayed here last year and really loved it. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious enough so I was very comfortable. I could even partly see the beach from my room. It's 2 minutes walk to the beach and is right in the centre of town. This time however the room I had was tiny and a little tired. I'd advise taking one of the larger rooms. It was also very basic but very clean. I never like when I have plastic cups to drink water from either. The shampoo and body wash is tiny one use plastic bottles, so nothing special there The breakfast is in the pub downstairs from the rooms. The food you choose is tasty. I always have the omlette. But there's no buffet. There's just a filter coffee machine with some water and orange juice and some refilled small jam jars. So the chef does amazing at creating delicious food. But there's no additional choice. I've been in many more hotels in Scotland that really impress with breakfast choice. Also, I'd advise bringing earplugs. I felt like the snoring man in the room next to me was actually in the room with me. So to summarise, it's clean and convenient but they could do with spending a little more on things. I did overhear that they are painting two rooms a week at the moment and they have 18 rooms. So maybe things will pick up. The staff are great. I do like this hotel and don't think it would take too much to put it in the top 5 in Stonehaven. It would only take a few tweaks and a little more spent.
There could be a little more on offer for breakfast. It's tasty, but it's a one choice off of the menu. Plus the tiny jars are refilled. So probably cheaper brands. And there's just one juice on offer. There's plastic cups and no water bottles in the rooms. The shower gel and shampoo is tiny and plastic throw aways. The walls are very thin.

The staff in the hotel were lovely and very attentive. The person on breakfast was especially lovely and such a hard worker she never stopped. Nothing was a hassle. The reception got the room ready earlier as we had requested.

Lovely comfortable, well furnished bedroom with great sea view. Very nice cooked breakfast.
En suite bathroom was just ok, but water was only warm, not hot. While breakfast food was good, there wasn't much choice: no option for cereal or porridge.

very good location, our room overlooked the shore so was nice to wake in the morning to sound of the waves crashing on the beach. Great breakfast.
bed was very uncomfortable,so not a good sleep. Room could do with a wee freshen up with a Lick of paint.. also windows on the front could be doing with a paint.

A little bit small, but fit 2 perfectly

Our breakfast experience here was a bit underwhelming. The breakfast room felt rather dark and dated, which didn’t quite suit the holiday morning we were hoping for. Additionally, the fact that the lady serving had been vacuuming just before, didn’t create the most welcoming first impression.
While the food itself was ok, we would recommend enjoying breakfast or brunch at some of the lovely nearby cafés right on the beach instead—there are plenty of charming options with great views and a more relaxed uplifting vibe.

Good place for a short stay with great team of staff
We paid Booking.com for a garden view room which wasn’t provided and is not really doable at the hotel. Grateful for a refund please.

The breakfast was amazing. We also ate dinner there and it was outstanding. The room was small, but very clean. Bathroom was spotless. The only minor issue was that the sink was super tiny. Not a huge deal, but the restaurant, staff and food/drink were wonderful. We would stay there again. It was also in a nice location.

Great stay, lovely view from the room, good breakfast, and nice food in the bar too. Staff really friendly.
Nothing to put us off staying again, but both bath and sink drains were clogged and slow to drain.

Bedroom really small, the bathroom was small and not so comfortable.

We had a partial sea view that was really nice, very comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast, and had a fab dinner too.
Room was a bit small for the size of the bed, but it was obviously 2 singles put together, which was great because of the heat (weather) we could stay away from each other.

Bar staff
breakfast evening meal all great
Staff great
The even put the rugby 🏉 on for us
The bedroom room no # 20 was the ordinary double ( there were no superior or sea view rooms available during our stay )
Our room was tiny ,in need of decoration,a mirror in the bedroom and a fan would have been great
Pity really as we loved stonehaven and the staff were great

Simple but good. Rooms with (some) sea view and centrally located. The bar which is part of the hotel is nice for a drink. Car can easily be parked at the lot on the market place on the opposite side of the street (paid).
The place is somewhat old, but no major issue for me. Breakfast offers possibility to choose from the menu, there is no buffet. Also here: no big deal for me.

Room was very good, nice decor, very clean and comfortable.
Shower did not drain away very well and we had to turn the water off to let it drain a bit then turn water back on and repeat that a few times. We advised reception when checking out and they said someone would check it out.
No cereal, fruit or yogurt available at breakfast.

Staff very friendly , our room was newly done up. Had a good view of the sea.
The bed side units are old and desk is old they should be white to match the room.

The staff were lovely! Our room was clean, comfy and cosy with a nice sea view to enjoy - it was perfect for a night’s stay. Breakfast was tasty.
The rooms were not very soundproof, unfortunately.
