We had tranquil stay in a picturesque property.

Staying in this property feels like a privilege as it’s in a breathtaking location, while the architectural conversion from a church to a cottage is both innovative and imaginative. The use of picture windows and choice of colour creates harmony between the cottage’s setting and its interior. The property was an excellent base for exploring the rest of this remarkable island.

Beautiful, peaceful, calm - a balm for the soul.

Our 3rd visit. Everything was perfect as usual & the hosts were incredibly helpful & informative. So peaceful and in a beautiful area of the island close to local amenities. We even had the weather - certainly the warmest and sunniest we’ve ever had in our many years visiting Skye. Thank you very much - we’ll be back .

Location was idyllic. Cleanliness was perfect. Comfort was amazing - best nights (plural) sleep ever. Area is gorgeous and peaceful. Wi-fi incredible. Facilities were fabulous.

Loo door could be a little more private but only a small criticism for an amazing stay. Highly recommended and we will be back. Thank you so much.

Peace, tranquility and simplicity

Peace, tranquility and simplicity. Staying here made quite a mark on me - one of those "need to re-evaluate my life - need to de-clutter" moments. Loved the location and the birds I could watch from the lounge. Everything I needed was provided - ultra clean and comfortable. Good WiFi. No TV required. A place to read, paint, rest and recuperate. It was away from main areas, but not a problem for getting around.

Cosy, secluded, well appointed accomodation

Lovely secluded location, very comfortable, immaculately clean, and had absolutely everything we could have needed.

There was nothing not to like about this property, but the roads getting to it are very rough at the moment, so great care is needed when driving. We also struggled to find places to eat out, those that were open were very busy and many didn't take bookings so it is a good idea to make sure you can be self sufficient just in case.

The location is remote and beautiful. We loved to watch the fire in the stove every evening. They also have some great maps for hiking on Skye

We absolutely loved our stay at the Tin Church. It was really thoughtfully and beautifully designed with everything you could need available and the location was great - I can't remember the last time I was somewhere and couldn't hear cars! On our last evening we were also treated to a visit from a couple of golden eagles who hovered above us for a while. We will definitely be staying here again whenever we come back to Skye. Unique beautiful accommodation with perfect location

Location is great! Far enough off the regular tourist track to feel relaxed and down a very quiet street, but close to a couple good restaurants ( munros bar- walking distance, the old Inn- a 10 min drive). The place is finished to a very high standard and comes with all the equipment you could need. The perfect place for a romantic getaway!

Right next to the really big hikes on skye; charming remake of an old missionary Church; internet good enough for remote working. When we went it was also an excellent value compared to the Airbnb's on Skye

Tin church review September 2021

Everything was perfect for us. The tin church has been beautifully renovated, was spotlessly clean with great facilities and fully equipped. Portnalong is perfect for a get away from it all holiday but the local hotel is just a short 10 minute walk away serving delicious meals. Thank you Caroline.

Excellent value and well appointed accommodation.

The property had everything we could possibly have needed - plenty of kitchen utensils and it was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine. It was a very quiet location with a good pub/hotel within walking distance, and fabulous access to Portnalong Pier where we were able to launch our kayaks with ease.

The only tiny thing was that a curtain in the main room would be a nice addition as some light came into the bedroom in the early morning.

Best holiday ever

Everything, the beautiful church, the location,the facilities,the peace , the washing machine was amazingly thoughtful and was used . The log burner was just so cozy . Absolutely everything was thought through . Maps to help with locations. Instructions for all appliances. The kitchen was so well equipped. I just cannot praise this property enough. I genuinely didn't want to come home.

The only negative I had for the beautiful tin church was the room divider. If it had a blind or curtain ( unfortunately I am a ridiculous sleeper and the slightest light keeps me awake ) then I wouldn't have a single negative thing to say . This honestly was the only thing I could point out from our week . In fact I wished we had booked 2 and as soon as it opens for next year we will be.

Perfect Base for Hiking, Sea Faring or Chilling

The location for the Cullin ridge was fantastic; about a 20 minute drive. The location is nicely remote without being too isolated from amenities. The Tin Church is renovated to a high standard and the decor is beautiful. You have to climb the little hill at the side of the property to see the sun set over the sea and shine on the Cullins each night! Visits by deer most mornings too as the buzzards soar above. Very peaceful and tranqil. A perfect base for exploring. We walked our legs off all around the nearby coast as well as getting up the hills. The bed was large and comfy. Shower nice and powerful.

What a find!

We stayed at the Tin Church this June for a week and we didn’t want to leave. Everything had been so well thought out from the facilities, added extras and the gorgeous decor (very scandi which my girlfriend loved). The Tin Church has been renovated to a very high standard. Everything felt good quality and was a pleasure to use. We enjoyed how eco-friendly a lot of the household products were. The wood burning stove made the church super cosy at night and was perfect for drying out soggy walking clothes ready for the next day. The location was stunning and remote just seeing the odd person walking their dog from time to time. The pub down the road (just a 5 min walk) does lovely food and has a warm welcoming atmosphere for those interested. It was ideally situated for exploring the whole island. We made it to every area of Skye but consistently thought that the Tin Church was placed in the most beautiful part. The view of the Cuillin ridge as we drove out of Carbost took our breath away. For a wonderfully relaxing holiday, away from everything, somewhere beautiful and with all the creature comforts you could need we’d highly recommend the Tin Church.

This is a very special place, everything about it is thoughtful and well designed, its location is peaceful and full of birdsong, and there are sunny spots to sit outside, or a cosy stove on a cold night. Perfection.
