Rowan Cottage Self Catering

This apartment is great for guests who what to stay in and relax, and ones more like us who need a base to explore Skye. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. It has a great kitchen and dining/living room setup with a pretty view down toward Portree. We were there in April and enjoyed watching the adorable lambs from the farm next door from the kitchen and balcony. The hosts have put so many thoughtful touches together from the way the kitchen is equipped and stocked to the binoculars to bird-watch. It’s away from town and peaceful, but close enough to drive in for restaurants, and to the main roads to get on the way quickly too, with the Old Man of Storr only 15 minutes away.

Great location 10 min drive from downtown Portree. The cottage had a lovely view of Portree and the mountains surrounding it. The decor was lovely inside and it was spotless. The kitchen was small but very well organized and had everything we needed. The hosts provided some yummy Scottish welcome treats as well as some new unopened orange juice, milk and eggs in the fridge which was really helpful to get us started. There are two co-op grocery stores in town. There is a small downtown quick stop location and a larger location 5 min away with everything. The hosts were kind and friendly when we sought them out otherwise they were quiet and did not disturb us. They provided an excellent info binder--that's how we knew about the grocery stores. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet at night. Portree has some good restaurants so if you don't plan on cooking it was nice to be a short drive away. We felt very comfortable and would recommend staying here.

Location was great for quiet, countryside setting; peaceful and beautiful. It was a taste of real Scotland life.
