I loved the traditional aspects of this property
The room could do with some hooks and shelves to put / hang things on. Competing space for luggage and people and bedding. But we knew this and worked around it. Lovely place. Lovely people. Great location. The welcoming shared tea in our room was personable and made us feel more welcomed.

The ryokan is very conveniently located, right next to the main market in Kyoto full of shops, restaurants and other amenities, but also within walking distance to many sights and the metro. The staff were very kind and the whole experience was enjoyable. The breakfast was also an interesting experience.
The Wi-fi was unusable with the reception in our room almost non-existant.

This ryokan offers an accessible authentic experience guided by a friendly staff and most amenities we are used to find in modern hotels.
The location is exceptional.
The restaurant seems to be excellent but we weren’t able to access it as it was already fully booked (for breakfast and dinner). I understand it’s preferable to book in advance. But our family prefers going with the flow when travelling :)
