It was in a good location, the staff where very nice👍
I would not say I didn't like the property, but I think it needs a wee bit of money sent on it 👍

The rooms were amazing, very clean and spacious. Comfy beds.
It was absolutely freezing, no radiators in the room or heaters. There was hardly any hot water. We had to boil the kettle multiple times to fill the bath to make it just about hot.

Place definitely looks better in photos than it does when you’re there!
Dirty room which was very dusty, bags of litter left in the hallways, awful noise coming from the bathroom all night and generally poor. TV didn’t work. Room was warm with a knackered fan, and multiple attempts to contact anyone since has been unsuccessful!

The room was well heated due to a plug in radiator with the building being so old and hard to maintain economically through conventional heating system. The bathroom was kitted out with quite new furniture including a fab whirlpool effect bath. All our linen was fab and sleep quality of bed was A1.
Ample breakfast of well cooked food but, not kept warm and toaster was out of service.

Location.
The room was freezing cold with only a small heater which gave off no heat. Wasn’t clean and the bath jacuzzi brought up wood and bits of sticks very disappointed.
You could also hear absolutely everything so didn’t sleep at all!

The hotel is beautiful and impressive
The room 208 that we had was freezing cold. We spoke with the receptionist and we asked to have another room. They advised that there are plenty of rooms available but first to try with a heater. They also advised that the hotel doesnt have any heating or air conditioning as it is too old. The booking.com description states HEATING.When we returned after almost 3 hours the room was still very cold even with 2 heaters! But when we did speak with receptionist again they were very room and said " Well unfortunately we dont have any other rooms available " and made us leave. We , 2 ladies, were left alone, in a new city, in the rain with no hotel room and not knowing where to go. The hotel staff were rude, not helpful and did lie to us. Please do not use this hotel. It is a beautiful place but the service and treatment you get it is less than 0

Lovely building, architectural brilliant
There was no heating in the building, although there were portable heaters but they were just plonked in the middle of the room, if this is a permanent situation then it would be better to have a place designated place for them and to have them switched on at check-in.

I love staying at this hotel it’s one of my favourites. I love everything about it especially the spa bath!

Beautiful building. Fantastic location. Interior enchanting.
Hot water didn’t really get hot so bath was very cold. Fitted mattress protector was not very fitting and the sheet was small so spent significant amount of time on bare mattress.

Great location, walking distance to Mermaid Quay. Parking around 5 min in multi storey.
Beautiful historic building
Friendly staff
Great breakfast, lots of choice including GF bread.
Comfortable bed and pillows
No phone to reception, to ask a question so had to walk down two flights. Water not that hot, when I asked staff following a walk down, the answer was that room was in old part of building, just run water it should get warmer. Cool shower had, but bathroom was large, with lovely towels. Couldn't use jacuzzi bath as it was have been a cold bath.
No mirror in bathroom.
No TV remote in room couldn't face another trek downstairs so waited until we went out to ask. Remote was in room on return.
Fire alarm went off at 6.40am then all quiet, no one said what to do. Very early start as couldn't go back to sleep.

Hotel was lovely, rooms were nice and clean and staff was very friendl
We arrived for a wedding, we was sent to the wrong room not just once but twice, the 1st room we was sent to was occupied with people in there which left us quite embarrassed, 2nd room we was sent to we was met by the cleaner still cleaning it, 3rd time lucky we was sent to a lovely spacious room with comfy beds, the jacuzzi didnt work so we was left disappointed as this our friends who stayed with us had a great experience

A lovely unique hotel in the Bay Area. Each room is quite unique. A great breakfast.
If the only option is a huge powerful overhead shower, a shower cap would be really appreciated. Still. It’s nice to have a huge powerful shower!

Lovely building full of character
No soap in the bathroom - no info in room -?no knowledge that evening meals/Sunday lunch served - reception staff need to advertise this - really missing a trick as we are out twice on a 3 day stay when we would have probably eaten in the hotel if we had known - also tried to get charged twice for breakfast when it was confirmed when we arrived that breakfast was included finally website needs updating still says breakfast served till 11am at weekend when it actually ends at 1030 so missed breakfast first morning still a bottle of wine was sent to our room and when we did eat the Sunday lunch was lovely

Such a quirky room. Beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfy. The jacuzzi was a surprising bonus
Room was a tad compact

Very quirky! Bit creepy at first but grew on us. Very well maintained, clean and a refreshing change from all the big chains. Obviously a lot of thought gone into the decor and maintenance of this historic building.
Our room was huge and therefore a bit chilly - but a portable radiator was in the room to help boost the temperature/ and it did the trick. The one drawback was lack of parking on site.

Location and room fine
Customer service appalling and my complaint in writing to the Manager has not been replied to. A shame as I have stayed here many times before but I will not be again until my complaint is taken seriously. How can a member of staff walk into a room at 11pm when the resident is naked and then not answer the complaint when asked???

Bed was very comfy, great bath. Very friendly breakfast staff in particular. Breakfast hot and fresh. Lovely big windows you can actually open, relatively quiet location fir the area regarding street noise. Interesting building.
If I had wanted to watch tv, it was 3 metres up the wall! Room a little chilly on arrival but heater soon warmed it up. The place feels a bit odd, a bit like a big event just finished, or is about to be set up. You feel a bit like you're not sure if you can explore the hotel or not. Corridors are dark with poor sound insulation on ground floor . Some really ugly old fashioned doors let down the historic interior

There was no hot water in our room. We were offered the use of another room on the other side of the hotel to shower! The tv in the room didn’t work. Reception didn’t offer any apologies. The room was cold. The bathroom floor was rocky and the grouting was stained really dirty in front of the sink.

The wonderful building was absolutely huge and spectacular!
The room was lovely. Had air con, a plug in radiator and a fan .. so ready for every eventuality!
The shower took about 10 mins for hot water to come through, and then it was just about warm enough to have a quick shower!

Nothing.
I’ve been coming here for meals for years and always appreciated the food, so when my home heating broke, I thought an overnight stay would be a comforting treat. Sadly, it was anything but.
The room, communal areas, and facilities were all in desperate need of a deep clean. Even the towels felt neglected. The entire atmosphere was gloomy, made worse by poor lighting throughout the property.
Breakfast starting at 7:30 AM on weekdays is a huge let down so I cannot comment on that—especially for business travellers who need an earlier start. We had to switch rooms due to the loud noise outside, and since there was no phone in the original room, I had to use my mobile to contact reception. After relocating upstairs, we were so drained we finally fell asleep.
This experience was far below the standard I expected from a place that calls itself a "boutique hotel." They need to rethink who they’re catering to. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend it to others.

Breakfast was ok. The usual powdered scambled eggs; the rest good.
Using the elevator was an exercise in navigation

Well sized room (triple) with dated but impressive furniture. Very spacious bath, with the highlight being the huge hot tub, a great surprise! Also had Sunday lunch at Aura, the restaurant on premise, and was extremely pleased with the quality of the food and the attentive service. The dining options in Cardiff Bay are also plentiful and within a few minutes walking distance.
The mattress was very soft and not very comfortable, needed a bit more structure. Would have appreciated a queen size instead of double, as there was plenty of room to fit that in. Also, one of the nightstand lamps wasn't working at all. Small hiccups, overall a nice experience.

There are some very beautiful rooms in the hotel - the large conference room, like much of the hotel has wood panelling and ornamentation. it even has a balcony all the way around the room. Added to that it was the site of the signing of the world's first ever ÂŁMillion cheque. The staff were happy to talk about the hotel's history. It is also comfortable and well positioned for the theatre / Opera house and Cardiff Bay. No more than a two minute walk from The Big plaza and Mermaid Quay.

The decor looked tired, the extractor in the toilet did not work, noisy doors slamming at night
