The aircon HVAC heating system is absolutely broken and diabolical. The room was absolutely freezing and the drafty windows and doors just allow all the cold air to come in.

Too cold! Will never stay again. The staff did bring heaters but made zero difference.

Lovely room with a view over the sea

The property is beautiful located and the rooms over look the bay with a shared terraced that is perfect to view sun rise/set.

I booked this for my daughters birthday, she wanted to shop in Cardiff and have a binge on stranger things with room service. So we were disappointed to find we couldn’t connect our fire stick (never had this problem anywhere we have stayed before), I called reception to assist, they said that they were waiting for maintenance to update the tvs so this with be available for future stays. Not too much of an issue as we watched from my laptop. However we couldn’t get the remote to switch the tv off, or change the channels, the setting were stuck in Spanish. We had 3 different remotes and non of them seemed to be able to switch the tv off, we had to unplug the lead out of the back to switch it off so we could sleep. The aircon was continuously blowing cold air for the first night, we couldn’t seem to turn it up or switch it off, we dealt with this for the first night as I felt like I had bothered the staff enough over the tv. On the second day I asked for someone to come and turn it up. They also couldn’t turn it up, they did manage to turn it off at least and bring a small radiator up to the room. Again they said they were waiting for maintenance to come and update the aircon system. The food we ordered to the room arrived and the toasted was stone cold, and my daughter said that aldi’s tin soup had more flavour than soup she order and said it tasted like it had be watered down. Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Voco St David's. We were given a complimentary room upgrade to a junior suite. The room was exceptional with a fantastic view. The staff were amazing, so friendly, helpful and courteous, nothing was a problem for them. The breakfast was really good. We are vegan with one gluten free diet and there was plenty of choice for us to eat. Great location in Cardiff Bay.

The spa wasn't as good as we expected. The sauna was broken as was one of the showers. The water in the jacuzzi came out in cold jets. Walking to the changing rooms from the pool the corridors were very cold. It needs improving.

James one of the staff in reception was fantastic, he made our stay extra special and overall had a lovely aura.

The receptionist at night was abrupt and rude.

The entrance door to the reception was supposed to be automatic but had to be pulling and pushing in and out. Unfortunately I didn’t have that much energy to do it.

Breakfast.. not very relaxing as self-service which is not a problem but lots of the food not ready and not replenished. Waited ages for certain foods to corm from kitchens so ended up having either cold food or having the breakfast in stages when the foods were brought out.Also even the tea and coffee self-service so a lot of time spent up and down from table fetching and carrying . Shame as rest of stay really lovely. Amazing staff in restaurant but the system not really working- bit disorganised.

Fantastic views

Loved the view from the room of the bay from the balcony. Close proximity to bars and restaurants in the bay. Use of the spa at any time. Excellent breakfast. Lovely staff on reception on check in.

I have mobility issues. There was a disabled toilet but even able bodied people were struggling with the enormous gaps between steps into the small pool and jacuzzi. I tried and failed, it made me sad and upset. There is no steam room but there is a sauna. The bedroom bathroom radiator is literally boiling hot. Small room. We were unable to turn it off. This is a feature of all rooms we were told -we slept each night with the balcony door propped open.

The size of rooms, spa facilities, bar and restaurant were also great . Staff very friendly and attentive

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and in a lovely location, staff are nice and friendly and very accommodating, I booked for my birthday and was very satisfied

Only thing I will say is the bath/shower had a big ring of rust around the overflow drain other than this everything was absolutely perfect

We had dinner and breakfast, both disappointing; two miles from City Centre

Breakfast at £25 is Far too expensive, declined the breakfast but enjoyed evening meals. We both felt breakfast should be included in the price you pay for your room!

Very cold in the entrance lobby

The hotel offered exceptional comfort and service, please. My partner and I have both worked in 4 and 5 star hotels and in fine dining restaurants from London to Sydney and so when we see and experience exceptional service and any level, we make a point of highlighting it. All too often there is a misconception in hospitality that anyone can do a job such as be a waiter, receptionist, bar staff or housekeeping, but that is not the case. True professionals in these roles are discrete, attentive and anticipatory, they listen and observe, they take action when and often before it is required and they provide seamless and effortless service that makes the customer feel like they are the centre of the experience. This is what we experienced on Fri 7-Sat 8 Nov at the Voco St David's Cardiff by IHG. This level of knowledge and skill does not happen overnight, it comes from dedicated training and discipline, experience and the right culture where staff are valued and recognised and from the reception staff to the servers at dinner and the maître d’hôtel and servers at breakfast, the customer service was excellent and reflected these qualities.

Great service, the staff were so welcoming and could t do enough to help. The room was fantastic and the extra little touches made my stay spot on.

The view from the room was amazing & the lobby smelled gorgeous. Welsh cake on arrival was a nice touch.

The room is dated- scuffs on wooden furniture, doors & on skirting, sealant messily used to fill holes in bathroom, room was too hot & couldn't get it cooler. Breakfast option was basic at best- cereals, fruit & a fry up. For the price we paid I was expecting things like eggs benedict, avocado, pancake stacks etc. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm. Very, very poor experience- we expected much better from this hotel, as it isn't exactly cheap to stay here!
