Lovely staff

Good location, good breakfast

Noisy nightclub nearby caused disturbed sleep. Not able to eat at the hotel after the rugby only curry buffet at £25 a head available

Pleasant enjoyable stay but need to fix lift.

Nice comfortable room . Spacious with good facilities , comfy bed and good view of castle clock tower.

Hotel Lifts STILL not working haven''t been for months on third floor so long walk up. Such a long delay to fix it not really acceptable & could be a problem for some guests with heavy luggage. Otherwise accommodation fine.

The beds were very comfy. Nice shower/ bath extras. It was lovely and warm. A lovely old building. Staff were kin,helpful and polite. The price was great including breakfast. Location was good for shops, bus routes, castle.

The room needs some updating. The ceiling and wallpaper was peeling away. The breakfast was ok but we did come down 9.30am. Food was drying over. I didnt see any menus for alternative foods like dairy free or gluten. To be fair l didnt ask either if they had any.

The Hotel is bit Rundown and could do with a revamp all over as the Windows didn’t open, the Heating wasn’t working and there was Flaky Paint all over the place

Absolutely great place to explore Cardiff from

Every single member of staff was super helpful and charming. The location of the hotel is perfect for central Cardiff. Sure it's an old building but that just adds to its charm.

Welcome at reception.

Expected a buffet breakfast which was not available. Was not asked of any allergies. Standard of breakfast poor, after previous experiences. If we were aware of this would have booked room only.

Fantastic staff.

The building itself is beautiful and has an interesting history. The main entrance foyer is absolutely stunning with a huge chandelier. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I spent some time talking to cleaning staff about shared hospitality experiences. Breakfast was superb, and again the staff were fantastic.

Many of the fixtures and fittings are falling apart in one way or another and the inside of the building seems quite delapidated in some areas. Our shower head was held on with tape for example. The air conditioning clearly hasnt worked in a very long time, however a nice fan was provided instead.

Lovely weekend away 😍

Stayed at the Angel many times before, and the location is ideal for exploring the city centre! The bed we had this time is one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in, truly bliss. Rooms were clean, warm and comfortable.

All the lifts were out of action (a temporary problem, I'm sure), but it was rather inconvenient. Also, incredibly annoying that they have no dedicated car park like they used to, I don't like having to lug my luggage through town.

Desperatley in need of a refurb.

Perfectly situated for center of Cardiff and staff brilliant.

No lifts, no heating except small oil fired electric radiator put into room and only 2 staff in restaurant for breakfast. The room we were given was the size of a shoe box but changed when I complained. We have been staying at the Angle for the last 3 years but this will our last visit as the hotel is desperately in need of a refurbishment. I cannot see this happening as still gets booked for functions and its location.

It’s location is excellent. It was warm and clean.

It needs to be refurbished. The lifts didn’t work. The decor desperately needs updating. I had a deluxe room. The only thing deluxe was the space. I had a sofa. There was coffee and tea but no choice or decaf. Not even a biscuit. I had to call someone to sort the tv as it was stuck on qvc. The guy said it was the wrong remote.

Fantastic location but mediocre hotel.

Great location

Once former iconic place has really lost it’s grandeur. Was ok for one night post concert, but everything was old and tired, lifts didn’t work and room had an awful smell.

Angel not what was expected

It’s so close to the centre of Cardiff and right by Cardiff Castle

We have been going here for 15 or so years twice a year, this time the both lifts were out of order and were not notified before hand being on the 3rd floor and ages 75 & 65 not good at all, came away feeling rather ill and exhausted left a letter for the manager but no response at all, so look for someone else next time I want to visit Cardiff

Lifts out of order and my brother of 77 years has disability so was a bit of an ordeal for him,breakfast was over cooked and dry ,cold drafty rooms very dated.

Comfy clean large room in centre of town. Great breakfast!

Spacious comfy clean room, hot high pressure shower. Tasty full English breakfast and croissants, cereal, yoghurt and toast available too. Hairdryer and nice selection of toiletries.

Room was very warm. Hotel communal areas are looking a bit tired now but a lovely old building and I would definately stay again 😊

Pleasant but we were very cold in the bedroom.

Good location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, water warm in bathroom. Bonus hearing some welsh singers on arrival. Able to leave cases in reception.

Our bedroom was very very cold. We thought breakfast starting at 8am was a little late as we wanted to get on our way to train station as it appeared that other people did too. It was unfortunate that the lunch and evening menu was so limited due to the Rugby.

The Staircase And Chandeliers Were Beautiful, A Beautiful Welcoming Feature. Staff Were Friendly And Helpful. My Room Was Extremely Large, Very Comfortable Bed And Lovely Power Shower. Refreshments, Tea, Coffee In Room. Good Location And Room Overlooked The Castle. Extremely Clean. Very Good Value For Money. Breakfast Superb! Served By A Lovely, Friendly Young Man From Nepal. I Am A Returning Guest, The Angel Always Exceeds Expectations. It Has Never Failed Me Yet. Lovely Decor And A Very Hospitable Stay. Thank You, I Love This Hotel.

Car park closed lift not working. Bed made us roll into the middle all night 1 radiator in room not working so room wasn’t very warm Ed Room supposed to be a suite but just a bigger room with a sofa that had seen better days and was uncomfortable
