I felt at home.

Very comfy and warm, wonderfully decorated rooms ( for Christmas).

Dog heaven 🐾

Dog-friendly to the max. Our spaniel loved it!! Staff really sociable; lovely bar area; cracking breakfast; easy access / egress for walking the dog outside hotel hours.

Comfortable Room; Good Location

We liked the size of the room & the attention to detail & design. For example, it was a nice touch to have real milk in the fridge for the tea & Nespresso. The bed was great & the room was a comfortable space. As well, the shower water pressure was super & the bathroom, while compact, was very pretty. The location was good too, as it was close enough to the centre to walk into the City, but removed enough to provide a pleasant environment, close to the river walk & Bute Park, across the river. While there is a pub downstairs, the rooms are very well insulated from any sounds. It was impressive that no noise reached the rooms.

Nice room, but wouldn't use the pub for meals again

The room was lovely. Nicely decorated, cosy, comfy bed. There was a kettle for tea and coffee machine and also a basket with some treats and snacks, however these were chargeable should you take anything. Considering it is in the city there was not much road noise.

Neighbours in next room came up really late and banging doors and whatever else. But I suppose this is not the pub's fault. There was also noise early morning of a lorry unloading drinks for the pub for ages. We checked in just after 8pm so to make it easier had dinner at the pub. There was a limited choice but some nice meals. We had salt and pepper squid for starter and it came at the same time as the main meal and it was cold. The main meals were also not hot as you'd expect but a bit more on the warm side. We paid for breakfast with our room. Again some nice menu choices. Came down at 8am, the time they start serving breakfast. Ordered pretty much straight away. 20min later the waitress came to tell us they had no eggs and a colleague had gone out to get some. Another 20 to 25 minutes went by before we were served our breakfast. We then had to rush for an appointment at 9am so my husband never had the chance to finish his meal.

Staff are young, willing and capable but not well trained

Location, room was good

It smells fusty/old frying oil/ not clean when you come in through the front door. It’s not particularly clean especially at the top of the stairs to the first landing where a double doors leads to a prep area or something. Carpet was grubby.

Room was clean, windows were open and dyson fan was running to keep the room cool.

When arriving, stood waiting for a while and was not acknowledged by bar staff whilst waiting. Customers continued to come to the bar and were served. Beds were very small for two men over 6 foot.

Excellent location very close to Bus station and walkable. Gentelman at the reception was very helpful and helped us to carry our heavy luggage on the staircase.

Staff were fantastic, the room was immaculate and the location was perfectly situated for our needs. Would highly recommend and would go back.

The only small detail I would change is not to have a mandatory deposit taken for the snack basket in the room. I think offering this at the bar so customers can opt out if would feel better but a small point compared to all the positives.

Will stay here again when we visit Cardiff

Fantastic welcoming and helpful staff. The Pontcanna Inn is in an excellent location for the center of Cardiff , the castle and stadium. The room was modern large and quiet and the ensuite was clean and spacious. The room had recently been redecorated and was furnished to a high standard. We had a Welsh breakfast which was plentful well cooked and a reasonable price.

Parking nearby in Sophia gardens was advertised as free but due to the events going on cost £24 for 24 hours.

Fabulous pub stay!

Great pub stay! The check-in team were great and explained everything - the room was lovely and welcoming with lovely basket of snacks available and a full mini bar - even though the bar was just a few steps below! Dinner menu was comprehensive with some great pub food options. Then the breakfast menu was just as comprehensive as the dinner menu,but feeling full from supper, they provided just a couple of poached eggs on sourdough which was grand! Was impressed by the pub quiz which was a regular feature - there are some bright youngsters in Cardiff!!

Nothing - was a great stay! Parking is on street and took just a bit of finding a space but was able to park within 100yds of the inn.

Comfort in Cool Cardiff

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, while the room itself was spacious, with a comfortable double bed, large TV and a spotlessly clean, en-suite bathroom. The bar below the room was well-stocked and atmospheric and the location of the Pontcanna Inn is excellent, a stone's throw away from Sophia Gardens, Llandaff Fields and only a ten-minute walk from the city centre and the Principality (Millennium) Stadium.
