A peaceful, romantic, cosy getaway in a beautiful location.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Dovecote - it’s such a charming place! It’s cosy, clean, comfortable and in a beautiful and peaceful location. Hostess Mel was really helpful and forthcoming with info and she had also left us some supplies and had even put a Christmas tree in there. We made fantastic memories, slept really well and felt absolutely at ease during our stay.

If I had to find something to improve (which isn’t easy!) I would say a slightly bigger sofa would wonderful. That’s literally all I can think of to say!

A very cmfortable, well equipped self catering beautifully, renovated Barn. The comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Peace and tranquility, far enough away from hustle and bustle yet near enough to go beyond and explore. The host Mel was exceptional, always on hand for anything. Some lovely treats too on our arrival. Definitely will return.

Loved our stay at The Dovecote

We loved our stay at The Dovecote. Great location, quiet, and made a a nice change from the busy town It was very clean, supa comfortable bed and pillows, loved the shower. The extras really made it, a bottle of bubbly, eggs, butter and milk all in the fridge for us which was so thoughtful. 100% recommend. Very good communication and info from the lovely owners.

The stairs could be a bit slippery in socks, so just be aware, eveything else was perfect.

The location is beautiful and very peaceful. Full cooking facilities are provided. Parking is available right next to the property.

Utterly wonderful place for a few days away

Location, bed very comfortable with lovely bed linen, excellent renovation with lots of detail, the wildlife, and especially, the honey! Stunning intimate accomodation full of character (hit very lucky with the weather too!)

Nit picking but perhaps a bigger sofa and better TV reception.

This is the perfect couples retreat. The facilities were excellent and we couldn’t fault it. It was very quiet but not far from pubs and Saffron Walden.

The Dovecote is a stylish, tarifis-like gem. The bed, bedding, peace and decor made for a perfect stay. Mel’s attention to detail and style have wow-ed us. We would absolutely love to stay again.

STUNNING! Beautiful little getaway!

This is a beautiful little renovated home. Modern amenities, quiet, beautiful surroundings, and very clean and well maintained. Milk, eggs, and a bottle of fizz were in the fridge when I arrived! Thoroughly enjoyed, and will return.

Everything!!! It even had heated floors downstairs, and had everything you would need for a little getaway. Even though I stayed for a work trip, I would return here for a couples retreat.

Beautifully renovated old building - small yet perfect for the two of us, including kitchen facilities! Thoughtful touches including goodies and essentials left for us, and great information about the area. Wood burning stove was a real treat!

A cosy base from which to explore

The clever conversion was cosy and comfortable. I was sad that it was warm and I had no opportunity to light the wood burner. I may go back in colder weather just to hunker down and be cosy. Everything you need is there including some supplies in the fridge. The quiet location was ideal for exploring the area.

Hidden Gem !

Our stay at The Dovecote was perfect. The location is quiet and peaceful yet fairly near to Saffron Walden and Cambridge. The Dovecote is clean and comfortable and has a great shower. Good place for a couple to stay. Parking is just outside the front of the building. We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay here!

it looked stunning and exactly like the photos. we loved it. small enough to be cute and comfortable, but big enough to have space. amazing find.

little bit cut off, no phone signal so heavily reliant on Wi-Fi so when that went down briefly we were cut off. can’t really be helped though so not really a downer.

Beautifully converted old farm building offers a welcoming and comfortable rural retreat

The Dovecote is an excellently renovated property set in an agricultural, rural location. The interior has been completed to a very high standard. The woodburner was a welcome feature: there was snow on the ground with sub-zero temperatures when we visited. The bathroom is lovely, the bedroom is comfortable and the downstairs living area is very welcoming. We'd visit again!

As it's self-catering, the addition of a freezer drawer within the fridge would be beneficial, but there's really not much to say against this property. ('Restaurant' is mentioned in some of the information, but this isn't the case and I suspect just a tick box error somewhere.)

Bottle of bubbles in the fridge nice touch. Amazing bedroom with extremely comfortable bed, amazing shower. Plenty of kindling and logs for fire. Loved the underfloor heating.

A beautiful property in a quiet and picturesque location.

The Dovecote is a very unique property. we loved the vaulted roof, the brick floor downstairs and the fixtures and fittings which were all perfect for their surroundings.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the Dovecote.
