The hostel is affordable and provides comfort just a short distance away from the beach scene

It is an interesting property because it is kind of hidden on the main road at the entrance to Mazunte. It has a jungle atmosphere; plenty of greenery, and quite private. The owner is very kind with his guests and works hard to maintain comfort. There is an inexpensive convenient store next door.

Not blaming Casa Del Angel at all; but it is not always quiet at night, with traffic and dogs. The drumming that I could hear put me to sleep though. You will have to walk into the town to find the beach, market, turtle sanctuary, etc.. but they are within walking distance. I had hoped the pool would work better. Also, somehow my shoes disappeared.

Great place to stay

The room stays relatively cool for Mazunte, but you also have a standing fan and a ceiling fan. Outside, you have your own hammock and space to sit and eat in front of the room. The owner is very friendly and there is a very spacious kitchen with many cooking pits.

Many mosquitos in the kitchen and there is some noise from the road especially since the room doesn't have a closed window

My life was at risk at this place! Someone attacked me and I had the worst experience of my life

Nothing about this hostel I liked. Very unsafe and dangerous hostel! I had the worst experience of my life in this place.

Very unsafe and dangerous hostel! My life was at risk! Worst hostel I have ever stayed! This was the most unsafe place I ever stayed, I had the worst experience of my life at this hostel. While I was sleeping in my room in the middle of the night a guy from the streets tried to enter my room and was waiting for me outside to do something to me. I tried to call the owner and he didn't answer so I started screaming to him or other people around the hostel and nobody came out! I had to called the police I found on the internet because the guy wouldn't leave. Thankfully the police came and after a long time the owner finally came down and he was in the hostal but didn't answer my calls or hear me at all! I was in shocked of what was happening and the owner didn't want to take any responsibility even if the place has the most insecure and smallest door of around 80cm tall without a lock that everyone can open and they can jump over it too. The hostel is in a very isolated location on the road just outside Mazunte and there is nothing around it so anyone can enter to this hostel with zero protection or security. They don't have any cameras as well for security and someone said it's not the first time someone enters the hostel. There's no one at the hostel ever, the owner and 2 people that work there are never there, I had questions about the internet and it took 2 days to find someone of staff, so of course if something bad happens there is no one around that can help you like it happened to me in a very bad and stressful situation! When I told the owner the door was not secure at all and anyone could enter he got mad and said he wouldn't take any responsibility but as guests paying to stay in his property we all need to be safe and secure at his property.

surprises and discomfort.

I am unsure whether Booking.com is at fault or if the property is at fault. The description on Booking.com was immensely surprised when I pointed out the tremendous inaccuracies of the Booking.com description. The description promised private kitchen and pool, toiletries; and a communal kitchen which exists but was overrun with small bugs and flies. Kitchen rules are posted and ignored. The result is a dirty mess on counters in dish strainers on tables and more. It appears the staff trusts patrons to do the up keep but it wasn't happening. In spite of being set back off the road the room was incredibly noisy. We were promised a ground floor room but given a second (top) floor room that has no glass windows, only screens and was on the outside of the building meaning it was closer to the noisy road. We experienced no security issues but having a large window with only a screen certainly makes security chancy. No hot water promised, no hot water, but it would have been nice to know before we booked. The price was great, but we stayed only one night not three. The owner graciously allowed us to leave without charge and even gave us a discount on our one night. I actually had a very good philosophical discussion with him.

Zero internet connectivity in the rooms and the mosquitoes are crazy outside at night so it wasn’t possible to plan things for the following day or communicate with anyone.

What an lovely hostel!! The photos really don’t do it justice, it’s sooo beautiful and green and the plunge pool is amazing! The rooms are also so lovely, comfortable and cleaned everyday! The kitchen is massive and so we’ll stocked. Great location too and lovely helpful staff, highly recommend

Overall, not bad for a short stay on a budget. You get what you pay for.

The location was decent. It was nice having an outdoor space outside the room, despite the mosquitoes. Quiet enough to get a good sleep.

Definitely catered more to the backpacker standard. The place looked run down. We never saw any staff and had to ask other guests for the wifi password.

Very good

The hostel is really cosy. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. We really liked the pool and how green everything was. The kitchen was well equipped, there were hammocks and a lot of nice places to relax and connect with the other guests.

The personnel of the hostel was sometimes difficult to reach, even during the reception hours and not very knowlegable.

Good place but too pricey for the quality.

The hostel has everything you need I believe and it's clean. Lovely set up in front of the rooms with hammocks, plants and warm lights.

They wanted to change the room I booked because they let someone stay longer in the one I was supposed to have without asking me first. Luckily, another similar room ended up being free, or I would have ended up in one on the side of the road, super hot with sun blasting on it all day. To be clear, if the hostel wasn't that expensive, I wouldn't say all I am about to say, but it was really not cheap to stay there and not be worth the money to me. -Currently construction noise all day around the swimming pool because they might be building a bar or something. We cannot expect that they stop if they need to build something but again, for the money we spent and we chose that place to relax, being aware beforehand, or maybe them taking the initiative to close for a week or 2 during the big noise they need to make could be more respectful for the clients. We chose to take this hostel that is a bit away from the center of the town to be away from the noise, so the construction noise was a bit of a bummer. -The mattress was super thin and soft. We could feel the wooden bedframe through it. -The bathroom door bang into the sink, and it is not possible to open it fully. -doors not easy to open and close. -The owner is nice but if you forget a light or your fan in your room, he won't hesitate to enter to turn them off. This is in the rules, so we don't feel that we can say something (we forgot the fan twice), but it still was surprising to know that someone entered the room like that.

Cute hotel with a lot of nature around it. Actually much nicer then the pictures would make you expect. There is also a swimming pool :) the host was super friendly and Check in and out was very easy.

Rooms don’t have AC so depending on the time of the year it can be really hot. Just something to be prepared for ;)

So the owner is creepy: Washing your hands: turn off the water. Looking around the pool: have you lost the key to you room? Many other things but it was so bad that we didn’t spend the night, we left a couple hours after check in. It just wasn’t comfortable.

Great host

Gustavo, the Manager of this place, is such a great person. He helped with every question we had and is also sometimes around for a chat. He made this place to a really chilled hostel.

Our room was pretty small and also the bathroom was not as clean as we would wish to have it. But I think the other rooms of the place are much better. Some of the people that are staying there already for a longer period think that they are the owner of this place and think they can talk like they want to those who just stay a while there. But this is something that is not the fould of the Hostel. And not everyone of the long term guests is like that. There are also chilled and nice people around.

The owner Gustavo genuinely cares about the guests and wants to make everyone as comfortable as possible. The property is a short walk from the beach. there is a little shop next door that has everything you need. the hostel has a kitchen which is a great advantage. Rooms are simple yet classy and very clean. I will definetly come back💚 Thank you Gustavo for hosting me!

Good

Gustavo is a really nice guy. Very genuine and down to earth. Offered a shower and use of toilet both before our check in and after when we left bags on site and returned at a later date. Also nice that there was an offer of coffee, tea or bread throughout the day. Gustavo also gave some great recommendations for food. Thanks Gustavo and best of luck.

The place is very much still under construction but not at unreasonable hours. When it's done it'll be awesome. Gustavo has big plans.

Muy agradable y una gran relación costo-beneficio

La habitación y el baño estaban muy limpios, había detalles como kit de aseo personal. El lugar se siente muy familiar, tiene áreas comunes como cocina común y sala de estar. Cuenta con 2 albercas pequeñas y mucha vegetación, esto lo hace sentir muy fresco.

No tiene aire acondicionado, solo ventiladores que no son suficientes para temperatura de 31° grados en Julio. Está en la salida del pueblo, lo cual hace necesario un taxi o caminar 15 minutos para llegar a la zona céntrica.

La piscina es un gran plus, así como el patio con los balcones y las hamacas. Muy buenas zonas comunes y las habitaciones cómodas y equipadas con lo necesario.

Mazunte siempre

Bonito edificio rodeado de naturaleza con una alberca linda, grande cocina y cuartos súper cómodos. Nos encantamos el tiempo aquí!

En la app Booking.com dice check out a las 1pm pero en real el personal del hostal nos dijeron que es a las 11am… malentendido pero todo bien

El lugar era muy bonito, los ventiladores refrescaban perfecto. La cocina estaba bien. El cuarto tenía amenidades suficientes para un hombre.
