The rooftop is pretty cool and the activities the guides make for us are interesting. The staff and volunteers are pretty lovely. Beds are comfy and there is privacy (courtains)
The Internet literally SUCKS. How come such hostel doesn't provide good Internet within the rooms? Everyone had to leave their rooms in order to use the Internet
I have to work online and that made things really difficult to me. Even inside of the cowork room, the signal sucked
Also, people that stay in this hostel, usually the europeans, are so EXTREMALY messy, it isn't the hostel's fault. They think they are at their home and just do whatever they want in the rooms making them look disgusting and messy.,

Really nice hostel with good facilities and activities.
I had to get up early for tours both days I was there and there was loud music playing in the lobby (right outside my room) until late, so it was hard to sleep. Definitely more of a party hostel.

It was easy to meet other travellers. The hostel organises different tours and runs some free of charge walks.
The fan in the bathroom was very loud and I couldn’t sleep well.

Amazing bar view over the city. Good active events and was lucky enough to have a very quiet dorm with nice private bunks. Great facilities, very clean and very friendly staff who were helpful, informative and fun. There is a lot of opportunity to socialbility and connecting with other travellers. Comfortable beds and dorm washrooms were very spacious. We had a sunset hike to El Picacho and it was one of the highlights of my entire trip! Highly recommend.
Some of the experiences were a little expensive - with some higher margins that I know were not the cost of the activity itself. The rooftop bar albeit nice is adjacent to quite a noisy road; inconvenient if you want a relaxing pool dip or a relaxing evening drink.

Good place, good bed, people working there are really nice and professional! Great to rest, clean bath and really good hot shower. Nice rooftop! Didn't have the time to enjoy the people staying there but Raaza, the volunteer, seems bringing some nice energy and makes a good job! Nice for few days and have a propre sleep!
Almost everything in overall!

Beautiful single room with king bed and ensuite. The location was perfect.
The room was right next to the cantina so a bit of noise until around midnight most nights. But it wasn’t too bothersome. The cantina is very overpriced for drinks and coffee but it’s handy to have something right there. The cost for the private room was similar to many local hotels. So not any added value to staying in the hostel if you are looking for a single room. The trips the hostel organizes sell out fast so we didn’t avail of this.

Very, very clean. Nice individual pods with curtains, fans, sockets etc. bathroom was gorgeous and big.
Felt extremely safe, lovely place to sit and relax in the courtyard.
Staff were wonderful, and went above and beyond to respond to a medical emergency in our dorm and make sure that the person was okay. Clearly care a lot about their guests- would be a great place for solo travellers.
We stayed over the Day of the Dead events so it was incredibly expensive, but suspect this would not usually be the case!

Fantastic tour guide and activities organised by the hostel.
Towels were an extra charge and were very old /stained. The first towel provided had multiple stains/ blood on it and checking at reception most of the towels they had on hand were also very old and had stains. We had to go through five towels together before we found one that didn't have any very visible stains. They should find a better laundromat or replace the towels.

The staff are really the selling point of this place, super friendly, high energy and there to make your experience better
Honestly I just had bad luck with my dorm bed being so close to the room light. I'd get woken up all the time by people coming and going. It wouldn't have been a problem if I'd had a bottom bunk or one further from the light, or had a decent sleep mask. But the mattress and pillow for me wrenched my back out somehow, I left feeling quite sore from sleeping here. Maybe it was due to sleeping tense from the thinking I was about to be woken up every 5 minutes. Also it's just 10 to a room and 1 bathroom so the process of getting everyone settled is gonna be longer than hostels with big multishower/ toilet units.

The place is big with a lot of friendly travellers. It has a very big common area and they offer all the services a traveller might need.
The rooms are small and can get a little hot without AC, and location is a little far from the city center. In addition, I had an issue with the laundry - they forgot to do it and returned it to me a little later than they said at first. However, staff were helpful - they apologized, did what they can do to solve the situation, and didn't charge me for the laundry at all.

The property is in a beautiful historic building with an amazing terrace. It’s spacious, well decorated, and clean.
The property was in a central location, very convenient, surrounded by many wonderful dining and shopping options.
By far what made the stay memorable was the staff - especially Danny, Erica, Monse. They were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuine. Some of the kindest, warmest people I’ve ever met. They never hesitated to go out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and felt welcome. After one month there I met many people who had the same positive experience with them— true standouts who elevated the whole experience from day one until my last day.
The only down side to my entire stay was a rude and unfriendly bartender named Paola. I walked up to the bar and she was on her phone and didn’t acknowledge me at all. I was the only one there. I walked away and she still didn’t say anything but continued on her phone. She ended a rooftop activity where everyone was having fun by abruptly turning off the lights saying she had to go home and was not friendly or kind about it at all. She made everyone there feel like an inconvenience. She clearly doesn’t understand the concept of hospitality. No idea how she stays employed. Avoid her and you’ll have an amazing time.

Location was very convenient, had a very social atmosphere including welcome drinks and a bar. Good value for money and staff were lovely.
The layout of the beds made it a bit noisy - bunk beds were connected vertically rather than head to toe which was loud if someone next to you was snoring! Large groups of younger travellers were there - which made it seem a bit party. And the music from the rooftop could be heard on the bottom floor rooms.

Had a great stay here in Oaxaca City. The hostel was lively and fun and I really enjoyed the activites they put on for us. Highly recommended!

Very clean. The staff were pretty helpful. It wasn’t so social but it’s not hard to make friends if you sit in the common area. Breakfast is paid and took a long time to make but it was actually really good. But if you’re trying to get somewhere early, would recommend getting breakfast elsewhere. They have a room where you can store your stuff if you’re checking out but not leaving

Comfortable private rooms for a great price. Rooms also cool which was very much appreciated in the Oaxaca heat. Staff very friendly. Very central. Lovely rooftop bar
Rooms not particularly well sound insulated but expected in a hostel.
Shower doesn’t get that hot, but warm enough.

- Location is perfect, 10m walk to center,
- The decor of the hostel is very impressive
- one of the staff was very nice and friendly
- Bed is comfy with a small fan which is a bonus
- Bathroom is big and clean, water pressure is good
- Cleanliness is great, housekeeping staff wipe down the surface every day, the clean the room and bathroom as well.
- Every night music / party noise stays until 11pm
- No ventilation in the room that needs constantly open to get air in
- One of The ground floor 8 bed dorm was quite tiny, no much walkway in the room, I saw other two were bigger.
- Some guest talk until 00:00 even after in the lobby, so if you are in the ground floor be prepared for the noise (reception provided the earplugs though)
- 8 ppl to share one bathroom is a big tight, sometimes I will use the lobby one(no shower)

One of my fave hostels I’ve stayed at. Staff were so friendly. Plenty of opportunities to take part in social activities run through the hostel. Great location. Lovely upstairs bar. Clean environment. Bunk beds have curtains allowing for privacy. Overall a wonderful stay.
Wifi was a little spotty in the dorm rooms but worked fine in the main lobby and upstairs bar

Viajero is a great option for travelers who are open to a socially busy environment, without having to sacrifice much comfort. There's something being organized every day, so plenty of opportunity to meet other travelers and explore what Oaxaca has to offer. Also, highly recommend Gabriela's yoga classes
Wifi in the bedrooms didn't work unfortunately. Would also be great if the toilet and the showers were separated in each dorm

I 100% recommend the Viajero Oaxaca Hostel! The truth is that for the first two days there was no hot water, but I was accommodated and asked twice if I'd still like to continue my stay. By day three there was hot water, and throughout my 10 day stay the staff have remained friendly, genuine, and always available.
The vibe itself is very social, it seems to attract people who have no problem being warm and bubbly. The dorms are a bit small but that is expected, but the beds are SO COMFYY! They come with a shelf, a personal fan, and a reading light. Overall my stay was very comfortable and clean which is very important to me as a solo female traveler. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I hope you do as well. PS. The mushroom tacos on the terrace were insanely good!!! Be sure to add caramelized onions to them as well.
Was a bit noisy at night but DUH! That's to be expected haha, and for all my chefs, the kitchen is tiny. But still cleaned and maintained.

Viajero is a nice and modern hostel with very comfortable beds. There is a nice rooftop to have breakfast. Also they offer a variety of tours and activities. The location is great, everything is pretty much in walking distance. The staff is super friendly, especially Kaori was so helpful :) I can warmly recommend this place to everyone who is staying in Oaxaca!

Right in the city center, with a very nice view from the rooftopbar. There are a lot of activities offered even though i didn‘t participate in any..;) The kitchen is not really made for big cooking, so you might have to think about eating outwards or at the rooftopbar but there’s a fridge to put food in. Stuff is very friendly, they helped me out when i had issues with my room.
Kitchen could be better for cooking..;)

Best hostel ever! Stayed in an 8 bed mixed dorm and it was super comfy. There was only one shower for us but there were only 3 in my room at the time. The staff are so lovely and the rooftop bar is a huge vibe. The hostel organises activities every night and I met a great group of people. Make sure you go to the Luche Libre fighting.
The shower was cold but I actually don’t mind cold showers.

The hostel is very spacious and beautiful, the staff really friendly and helpful.
I think it was expensive for what it was ... during the night there wouldn't anyone be at the reception, so people would come home from partying and be really loud waking everybody up as the hall really amplifies all the noise. Internet didn't work most of the time. Kitchen not really suitable and equipped for cooking or preparing stuff. The restaurant/bar at the rooftop is quite nice but too expensive. Everything is much cheaper outside the hostel, including tours.
