Casa Karma host was exceptional. The host (Alejandra) was always there to help us and answer any question we had, making sure our stay was the best. We might in the future rent back again in Casa Karma, but a room with A/C since it was pretty warm and our room didn't have it, but other rooms did. I also liked that it is very close to the main road and to Punta Zicatela, few walking-blocks to get there.
I didn't like some noise from street traffic, but nothing that was super annoying all the time.

Quiet hostel, no frills, decent value. I appreciated that there was always water available and it seemed like the shared areas were cleaned on the regular. Close enough to the beach.
The room was quite hot - the fan was not sufficient. But I mean, Puerto Escondido is hot and humid, so I can't really fault the hostel for this. I am sure more expensive places would have air conditioners.

Really close to the beach at Punta, but far enough away from the strip to be comfortable. Also well located with respect to shops / restaurants / the main highway for collectivos to the ADO station. Kitchen and outside space were really handy.
Our room (number 5) was right beside a farm. There were animals making noise beginning at 3am in the morning and throughout the day. In addition, the AC was incredibly noisy and therefore made it impossible to sleep. Not only was the AC noisy, it also wasn’t very good so our room was very warm. There was an issue with the flush in the bathroom closet to our room which wasn’t pleasant. The water also wasn’t hot in the shower, which was honestly fine as it was so warm in general but an option for hot water is also appreciated.
