I'd definitely stay at Gerald's Place again if the opportunity arose and recommend it highly.

The location of Gerald's Place was excellent - within walking distance to the major attractions. Gerald is an excellent host and provided extensive information on what to see and do in Edinburgh. He also recommended restaurants nearby. He went above and beyond to ensure that our visit to his city was enjoyable. The charming B & B was a pleasure to stay in - felt right at home, and it is a historic building. The breakfast was excellent - we opted for the cereals, fruit, yogurt and coffee.

Superb

Location, location, location. Perfect for getting around Edinburgh. Close to some amazing good restaurants. Gerald is a true English gentleman and it was a delight staying at his place. The beds were comfy and although small the room was lovely.

Disappointing given the reviews

We could not continue to stay after 2 nights at Geraldsplace because it was damp, and it was affecting our breathing (though we don't normally have breathing problems). So we had to find last minute accommodation in Edinburgh, and payed to go to a hotel for the 4 other nights. The accommodation didn't have a seperate entrance as advertised, and you had to go through a communal hallway to access the private bathroom. Even though Gerald was very nice it didn't compensate for all of this.

I cannot say enough great things about geraldsplace. We loved every aspect of the space. Gerald provided numerous resources for us that made our stay exceptional. He went above and beyond in every way. When we planned this trip, we looked forward to meeting our host, Gerald. I can truly say that there is no one quite like him. His home is beautiful, and it is a direct reflection of who he is. After months of communication, Gerald welcomed us into his home with a hug. We knew we had made the right choice in that moment. We had the pleasure of spending time with Gerald, and learning about his journey to starting a bnb. He has a wonderful story, and we left feeling like family. I am confident that every guest that has stayed at Gerald’s place left feeling like we did. It was an absolute treasure to stay with him.

Totally amazing facility

Gerald's Place deserves every 10-star rating and so much more. The facilities are delightful, our breakfast every morning was amazing, but best of all is your host. He takes you into his home and treats you like family. Gerald has lots of helpful tips, before your trip and while there. The neighborhood is delightful--loved the restaurants. Very close to City Center and convenient to hop-on, hop-off buses for weary multi-day travelers. I would return once a month if I could, Gerald is brilliant!!!

The location was very convenient-away from the noise of the tourist area, but close enough to walk almost everywhere. Gerald was an excellent host and his breakfasts were first class. He’s like having a sweet uncle in Eidenburgh.

We spent seven excellent days in Edinburgh, always having a comfortable place to return to in the evening.

Location was perfect. Gerald made us feel at home and great to just talk with. The decor is such that one could spend hours looking at photos and books.

Gerald's Place

Gerald was a wonderful host, the property was so well placed for the centre of Edinburgh only a 10 minute walk from the hop on hop off terminal. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were substantial with a good selection for all tastes. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Beautiful location, well taken care of, great service.

Wonderful location right in the heart of New Town, accessible to both the Royal Mile, museums and a nice walk to shops and restaurants. Gerald is a wonderful host, and gave me a ton of great suggestions for what to visit in Edinburgh. I truly enjoyed my stay, and the wonderful Scottish hospitality.

Exceptional experience in Edinburgh

We booked Gerald's Place after reading the stellar reviews and were not disappointed. While we did not have the opportunity to meet the legendary Gerald, his housekeeper filled his shoes most admirably. The accommodations were convenient, clean, and cozy. Breakfast featured more food than we could eat and bonus treats of chocolate and scotch made the stay even more terrific. Conversation and recommendations were all helpful. We highly recommend this place.

We didn't like having to leave. Wish we had more time to stay in Edinburgh.

All the reviews you will read on both booking and trip advisor are absolutely true! This is a beautiful home in a wonderful part of Edinburgh - in no time you're in the hustle and bustle of the old town and not far down the hill there are quirky shops, cosy restaurants and the botanic gardens. Gerald welcomed us so warmly and left so many thoughtful touches - chocolates, tea, china cups, whiskey and even bath gel that bubbles up! (to name just a few) He was very conscious of keeping us and his other guests protected from Omnicrom so we didn't get a chance to enjoy his breakfast, but Gerald generously covered our breakfast costs for eating out. He is a lovely man and a true host! We will definitely be back!

Amazing place to stay in Edinburgh

The place is amazing, old cozy house with walls covered in aquarelle paintings. Clean, warm and beautiful. Just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Edinburgh. A lot of places around to have a snack. Gerald is just the best! Thank you for your hospitality, we had a great time!
