Honestly, I regret not staying here more over the past 18 months since working in the area.

Pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was a very high standard. Fresh milk provided in the room which was a nice touch. Plus the biscuits. Small touches make a big difference

A great hotel, with friendly and accommodating staff. Superb food and a great location.

I was delighted to be upgraded on arrival. Staff were friendly and very helpful, everyone said hello and made you feel welcome. The room was very comfortable and had everything you needed including home made shortbread. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best I have had. Location was great, and I secured a great deal for my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Good, but in need of some TLC

Dining arrangements, pleasantness of staff, quality of food (breakfast and dinner) and its presentation - all to a very high standard. The private family event that we attended was very well organised, with excellent catering and helpful staff. Good free parking.

Our room was not up to the same standard as the public areas. The carpet looked as though it needed a good clean and the shower controls were very old fashioned in not having any means of adjusting water pressure with the result that excessive quantities ended up on the floor despite our best efforts. Modern controls would solve the problem!

Good location and nice walks close by

Ambience is good. As a previous resident of many years ago, the hotel was an exceptional experience. It has an average experience now.

Food service was very slow. Quality of breakfast was below average for the cost. It was not a good experience to be having dinner whilst staff were taking Christmas decorations in the restaurant down; that showed a lack of respect for those present and it should be when it is closed. Bath water temperature was tepid, so could don't use it.

Impeccable standard

Excellent all round service. Impeccable standard in customer service, accommodation, and food. Delicious breakfast and a wide choice. Large car park. Close enough to town centre to walk in.

We have stayed at The Old Bridge and also dined without staying several times over the last 25 years and our last stay sadly saw a real decline. The property itself was lovely as always, but the staff and food were not of the same calibre. There was zero engagement or interest from staff, lots of things forgotten, or got wrong. Just not what we had been used to there at all. I seriously think the staff could do with some decent training. Seeing as it was December and the run up to Christmas, the fire wasn't on in the bar so it felt quite flat and a bit chilly, not at all the same warm, cosy atmosphere we had experienced in previous years. Breakfast – poached eggs were overdone In room – tea & coffee making stuff but no milk – you had to request it from reception (which is OK if you spot the note before everyone's disappeared for the night!)

Very mixed. Location was convenient for us visiting friends nearby.

The greeting on arrival was very disappointing 4pm like we were an inconvenience The fire alarm went off early in the morning. The breakfast was overcooked and disappointing we would have expected a higher standard. There was no need for this as residents did not all go into breakfast as soon as we were allowed back in. It was like the food had been cooked a few hours before gone cold and reheated. Room 12 constant humming noise that made in impossible to sleep - like a white noise. Regarding the fire alarm being activated naturally we all had to gather outside whilst the issue was investigated. The chefs were smoking in full view of the guests which I thinking was unacceptable and does not make a good impression

A very comfortable traditional hotel. Excellent bar and food and marvellous staff.

Breakfast (as part of the package) was excellent. Plenty of options and really tasty.

Bathroom was quite cold and the facilities for drying towels after use was a problem. The towel rail fittings were new but traditional (consistent with the age of the hotel) and less efficient than modern bath towel rails. The room was large but we had to access it by going outside the hotel on two very rainy days - we were not aware of that when we booked.

Absolutely Fabulous

Absolutely fabulous all round. Friendly professional service by reception who showed me to the room. Offered to take one of my bags. Delicious fayre with homemade shortbread in the room and down in the lounge bar. Also, homemade cakes and scones. Great breakfast with very good selection and strong coffee. Attentive staff. My room was clean and very comfortable. Came here to relax and got spoilt. Well done to all staff.

Wonderful and gorgeous stay

The hotel was wonderful. Room gorgeous and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. I grew up in the area and the hotel was always known as posh. So glad I got to experience and the staff were so welcoming and helpful.

Loved this place! Had a high quality and very relaxed vibe to it, lovely friendly helpful staff, excellent food, a beautiful dog walk by the river right outside the hotel (and all the staff were very sweet with my dog!), great bath!, big light bathroom, AIR CON!! 😵, easy to find and park and was just generally a great stay I couldn't really fault. Great value for money and the extensive free breakfast was a proper cherry on top!

The pillows could have been more comfortable, they were very puffy and nice but flattened quite quickly - I am someone who generally brings my own pillow though so maybe I'm extra sensitive! 😅

Disappointed that we paid for breakfast as part of our room, but were not given any information on timings, so when we came down for breakfast at 10am on Sunday morning, we were told it was finished. The booking confirmation email only gives details of lunch and dinner timings and it wasn’t mentioned at check in. Usually I would expect breakfast to be available until later.

The breakfast and the serving staff was truly very lovely! The bed was comfortable.

The shower in our room leaked at the top when we turned it on. It was very inconvenient. We couldn't find the WiFi password since the signal was poor at times. Sadly, due to the age of the hotel it was not accessible for us and our baby which meant we had to lift our pram up 2 flights of stairs.
