Slightly disappointing

Comfortable bed

Hot water in shower could not be made cooler, too hot. Had to flush toilet 3 times for it to flush properly . Would have been nice to have a cooked breakfast. No one staffing the bar.

Don't stay in Room 18

Location was great, just a short walk in to St Ives. The staff on arrival were very friendly and the breakfast was good on both of the mornings that we stayed. The room and bathroom were very clean.

Our room seemed to have a boiler/water pump (Not sure which) of some kind right next door to it (We were in room 18). This came on multiple times during the night (As late as 1AM) and first thing in the morning, when it got going it sounded like the room was going to take off, therefore impossible to sleep through. Very disappointing as the room itself was nice but for the price me and my partner expected to be able to actually sleep through! The shower was also very poor, think maybe a problem with the pressure as it was the weakest shower I've ever had. Did try to tell a member of staff this as we were leaving, but couldn't find anyone on checkout unfortunately. I'm sure this only affects the rooms near the boiler/water pump but to have not been warned is poor from the hotel, as I highly doubt we're the first people to stay in that room!

Unfriendly

Good location, restaurants in walking distance and a pretty town.

The bed was not very comfortable and very creaky and the pillows were lumpy. There was a spa bath in room but it did not work.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. We got the "best room" at the hotel we were told. It was very nice and "quaint" with a very large bath/bathroom

Disappointed

Lovely listed building. Nice internal decoration, comfortable bed, fluffy towels.

Having booked a superior room we asked to be moved due to constant traffic noise from road, and the bass beat of music being played in the bar and reception areas, this continued after the bar had closed. Like warm water in bathroom and a jacuzzi bath that didn't work. Restaurant closed on Monday evenings, which is not made clear until booking confirmation email is received. Buffet breakfast is an array of items covered in cling film,warm ham and cheese, no fruit and no staff in attendance. Luke warm filter coffee. No reception staff for checkout, just box for room key so no thank you, safe journey etc. This maybe because they don't want to hear the feedback.

This was terrible we won't be staying again.

Good location and beautiful exterior of the property.

On waking up, there was no caffeinated coffee in our room and no one available on reception to ask. We dressed and went down for breakfast at 9am and although it was served until 10am, all platters were empty and there were no clean tables to sit at. Again no staff could be found so we left without breakfast despite paying for it! There were three rooms in this situation. Very early checkout time of 10am on a weekend. Room was uncomfortably hot on arrival as there were two electric radiators on full heat.

The Hotel is a very nice building

We phone forward to say my wife was diary free, yet at breakfast they struggled to find the Oat Milk, and on the second morning there was no staff on hand, the cleaner very helpfully found the oat milk in the bar fridge

When I arrived the front door was shut and had to find my way in through a side door also experienced the door being shut on return just after 10pm . Also uncertainty about the opening of the bar . In this respect I found the place unwelcoming.

The room was very nice. Reception staff were good too.

Room was so hot, turned the heater off at the wall and a spark jumped out of the socket. I have never been to any hotel that doesn’t supply soap in the bathroom. We had a Christmas party in the hotel and the food was bland and cold. I even found a 6 inch hair in my pudding.

Overall we enjoyed our stay , it does have a lovely boutique style small hotel feel

Enjoyed the breakfast but had to take plates and cutlery from someone else’s table which was a bit embarrassing as a guest , it would have been nice to see even one person who could have perhaps helped us with that

Felt perhaps a key code could be introduced for the main door as we stood outside at midnight waiting to be let in after we had phoned the number on the door , it was cold and if I had been alone I would have felt vulnerable stood there at night time

Great little hotel

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful The hotel is tastefully decorated and looks lovely The room was lovely and warm which was nice to come into Overall excellent value for money in a great location

The only disappointing thing was our room had a spa bath, but we couldn't see how to get it working and are unsure if it was faulty or if we just didn't turn it on properly. A manual to use it would have been helpful

Very unpleasant stay

Nothing was nice about this hotel.

We felt quite abandoned! The shower didn't work in the room, so we went downstairs to find a member of staff, but the place was in darkness. There was a piece of paper on the desk with a mobile number to ring in case of emergencies. The shower couldn't be fixed and they couldn't change our room so we had to walk along the corridor to another room to have a shower. We did pop out for dinner, only to come back to find no outside lights were on. We struggled up to the front door as we couldn't see the path. We both said, I think they've closed and forgotten us! We came downstairs for breakfast to find no staff again. After checking the rooms downstairs we found one table with a breakfast for two people, covered in clingfilm, so we assumed there were no other guests and this was ours. We packed and left, but we still didn't see a member of staff so I was unable to complain face to face. I have emailed to ask for a refund, but haven't heard anything from them at all, which is really rude.

It had everything I wanted for an overnight stop and is great value for money.

Excellent location. Generously appointed room which was excellent value. I wasn't expecting a breakfast so the continental breakfast, although limited was a bonus. Free WiFi. Large comfy bed. Great value for money when compared to the usual chain suspects

Not the hotel's fault but it was very quiet. There is parking but it was dark when I arrived at 1900, and very little lighting. Finding a spot safely was difficult.

The staff were generally friendly.

On arrival they wanted to enter my room almost immediately to check on the hot water system. The only issue I had with that, was to get the shower to start you had to start the sink tap. The breakfast was relatively basic, and after 7am the night porter left and there appeared to be no staff at all.

Very disappointed

Nicely decorated The yogurt was good!

Scalding hot water, no cold water impossible to shower. Bath jets do not work , baths are very slow to drain. Coffee machine, no instructions how to work it . Breakfast was appalling, bruised fresh fruit, no coffee, no croissants- was told there aren't any, no cutlery, no milk, no staff to even ask, eventually a Housekeeper sorted the coffee & someone cooked more croissants. No staff to clear tables, no management on duty to deal with the issues . For £125 per night I would expect a lot better. The room and experience are no where near worth the amount paid, very very disappointed I would not stay here again

Simple stylish and cosy

I liked the decorum which was stylish

The meagre selection at breakfast. It was very basic: croissants, cheese, ham, cereal, yoghurt. I felt i would have wanted a cooked breakfast to make up for the price.
