Good location, nice staff

Food sent back on numerous occasions for being cold. Arranged evening meal 20.30/20.45 arrived 20.10 and told we have stopped serving!!

Lovely room & staff- shame about the noise late at night!

Lovely spacious room, friendly staff

Unsure if my room was situated right above the bar or restaurant area, but almost constant slamming door late at night when trying to get to sleep. I could also hear people speaking really loudly until almost 1am - it was like they were in the room with me! Safe to say I struggled to sleep and didn’t have the best night.

Great room, great location. Staff held our bags and let us check in at midnight after a wedding which was much appreciated!

The room was quite cold but there was a plug in heater to use. The bathroom needed a bit of an extra scrub, especially the grout in the over the bath shower.

Breakfast was not good. Cold beans first day and eggs over cooked both days. For the £13pp you would be better of going next door to the weatherspoons for breakfast.

Our room was over the restaurant which ment it was noisy at breakfast time.Could hear music,talking and chairs scrapping the floor.My husband slept through it l didn’t.It may not affect everyone.

The room was a good size and cozy. The bed was bigger than expected and very comfortable. I actually had a good night sleep which is rare in hotels. There was everything I needed in the cupboard like an ironing board, air dryer, fan etc. There was a night porter which was brilliant if you needed anything after hours.

The location is excellent. Right in the centre of town.

No parking. No double glazing. I stayed in room 7 at the front of the hotel. It was very very noisy when the bins were emptied in the morning and when people left pub at the end of the night.

Good location, reasonable rates, as long as you don’t mind lion paintings everywhere!

Spacious room, comfortable beds and great linen. En suite was large and clean. Digital radio was a nice touch.

Reception was tricky to find and the staff ignored us too long. All of the “modern quirky” lion paintings - everywhere upstairs. They didn’t match the other decor. There were too many of them in the room.

Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked. Location good for St Ives and within easy of Cambridge. Double room rather small but adequate for one person, might be cramped for two people. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very warm welcome.

We were in St Ives for 1 night and this hotel was a good place to stay right in the town centre. The room was good and the staff polite and helpful.

The Golden Lion

General atmosphere was nice, warm and cosy. Location was brilliant. Food was tasty.

Staff weren't as helpful as other places we've visited. Our bathroom bin wasn't emptied upon arrival. The cleanliness was quite poor. Bathroom.yile edging very dusty. Slow food service, and apparently, a lot of the menu items weren't in stock.

Great getaway

The room was a really good size, there was a bath and even a rubber duck. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. It's a great location in the centre of St Ives with many things to do nearby

Relaxing, comfortable, great location, would recommend.

Our room was clean and well laid out. The hotel itself was very spacious, plenty of seating and clean. Lovely breakfast. We didn't eat an evening meal there so can't comment. Staff attentive, friendly and chatty. Overall a relaxing experience and would definitely stay again. Location perfect.

Drinks on the pricey side. No parking but wasn't too bothered as long stay carpark only a 5 min walk away.

Well located , super accommodation , lovely staff.

Not a criticism in any way but our Delux room was two flights of stairs to the very top of the building and my husband has difficulty with stairs. I wasn’t aware when booking, may have been my fault! No lift but I don’t expect that everywhere.

Room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. As somewhere for one night it really was ideal. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality.

I had a very nice stay here, it could be improved with little touches overall

The breakfast was really tasty - loved the food - would have been even better if there were hashbrowns/potatoes but this is personal preference - the menu was good, food was fresh and the portions were great. The service was fab, everyone at this hotel is very nice! The mattress was comfortable as were the sheets etc. and there were a lot of things in the room to use like iron, radiator, fan etc. really well equipped and this was MUCH appreciated. Also liked the two locks on the doors to feel safe. Great location in the centre of town.

It seemed quite worn in places, it was moldy in the bathroom at points and the shower was quite old, the mattress under the covers had quite a lot of stains which was questionable - though overall the sheets and everything else were clean. The downstairs smelled a bit bad especially by the bathrooms. I think a little refresh would go a long way. The outside area at the back could also do with some fairylights and heaters then it would be lovely to sit out there in the evenings.

Brilliant will definately be back

I left something valuable in the room and this was handed and kept for me in lost property, so I would like to thank the housekeeper, night porter and manager. We ate at The Golden Lion the food was amazing, we will definately be back.
