An extremely disappointing stay with poor cleanliness and comfort.

Two things only, staff and location.

Where do I even begin? We arrived to find there were no bath towels in the room, though the front desk did eventually provide some. The room and corridors had an unpleasant smell, and cleanliness was a serious issue. I found multiple hairs on the bed, and the room clearly had not been properly cleaned. The heating system shut off every four hours, leaving us freezing in the middle of the night. The glasses in the room were dirty, and overall the room looked like it had not been maintained for years. The bathroom ceiling was in particularly poor condition. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I would never stay here again, even if it were free.

Great value hotel, really clean and comfortable. Nice staff. Good full English breakfast. Ideally located next to the services which is open 365 a year. I've stayed several times because I really like the hotel and the prices are so competitive.

New Year Celebrations.

Room was spacious. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space. The bed was very comfortable. All parts of the accommodation were clean. The staff and price was excellent.

Convenient, reliable, and a bargain at Christmas.

The staff are always polite and helpful. The linens and bathroom etc... all looked very clean, and the showers are roomy and bright with lots of hot water and we love the seat! The lighting is much better than in most hotels. There is a lot of flexibility on arrival time, with late night reception. Parking is close by and plentiful. We like to stay here over Christmas as the location is handy and accessible, and the twins are both real beds not sofa-beds.

A second pillow would be much appreciated for sitting in bed catching up on the news and weather. Personally we found the liquid soap too strongly scented. An area of wall by the heater looked rather grubby - quite a contrast to the cleaning and maintenance in general.

Receptionist in the morning, terrible, sat at desk in her very heavy coats, on her phone, no greeting, never said hello or good morning, very poor service, needs to learn manners and customer service quick, however the young man the previous night on reception was very nice,

I love the convenience of the hotel being at the service I’ve stayed before with no problems at all

Unfortunately I found a empty bottle of wine behind the mattress which I would assume would have been for the previous guests, I took a photo because as a cleaner myself I don’t actually understand how you could have missed this making the bed unless the bed wasn’t remade is my only thought.

Handy location

The room was reasonably spacious. Tissues, hand wash, shower-wash pumps were provided in the shower. As it was a bit warm, we appreciated the fan stored in the cupboard. Plenty of eatery options both next door and in the Hotel restaurant. We sampled both over our two days. Staff very helpful re parking and travel suggestions. Handy location for both Oxford and Cambridge (and Stansted Airport).

Note: Wash-hand basin was in the open and only the toilet and shower were together in a separate room. This was a bit frustrating at night if you used the bathroom and then had to put the light on to wash hands - which then lit up the room! Having an additional luggage rack would be helpful especially for those who find it difficult bending over suitcases on the floor.

Better than expected

The Location. I suffer with anxiety and ptsd and the symptoms are daily. The staff on the desk noticed. She didn't ask too many questions, allowed me to calm and didn't question my physical symptoms. It really put me at ease. The second time I approached her she remembered and asked me if I was ok and of i had managed to calm and also let me know that I was safe there.

The shower door stuck and the sealant around the bathroom was grimey but still good for money.

It is so old and run down inside the rooms need to be gutted and replaced paint was flaking of the ceiling in bathroom and lots of mould in the shower I felt dirty after I had showered to had to have another shower when I got home

Weekend stay.

The bed was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The shower head broke in use, when reported to reception, the ladies were very helpful and soon sorted out another room straight away, they were very understanding when I had a problem with the key cards to the room, my fault not theirs I should add.

The shower head broke in use, so had to go to reception to report it. The bathroom ceiling paint was all peeling off, needs redecorating.

Ideally placed for our visit

Easy to get to, friendly staff, rooms comfortable, food of good quality.

On Saturday the hotel was very busy due to there being an event at Duxford air museum, there was a lack of staff so queues began forming for different services. Staff member Luca was absolutely brilliant at dealing with everyone and managed to reduce the queues very quickly.
