Save your money, there’s better places!!

I didn’t like it

Dirty!! Not worth £630 for two nights!!! Advertised as an executive two bedroom department, but in all honesty it was like a grubby two bedroom students apartment that needed a good claim. Our socks were actually filthy black when we took our shoes off after walking around.

Overpriced and underwhelming!

Very friendly helpful staff. Nice breakfast.

Pretty disappointing accommodation - the room was stiflingly hot when we arrived and the bed had a 10cm block of foam on top of the mattress - the cheapest most useless mattress topper ever! The shower screen fell off in my husbands’ hand when he finished showering. The shower water backed up and he had to unplug the drain!

Dirty not a pleasant experience never stay there again

Hotel in a good location in Royston. Bathroom was dirty with hairs on toilet seat and shower. Shower hose split with water spurting all over the place, could face even attempting a shower waited until I got home. Definitely not value for money will not stay there ever again !

OK for one night

Breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. Location worked well for me, on the high street a 10 min walk from the station. Water pressure was good and shower was hot.

The room was a bit shabby and carpet quite dusty, especially around the edges, as if the middle has been hoovered but the edges round the skirting boards hadn’t been done for a long time. Mattress was saggy.

Location was fab for a surprise 50th birthday party. Bed very comfy. Breakfast was great. Room was comfy and warm

Needs a more deep clean. Water pressure very low in bath and shower. TV signal was rubbish. Lights in bathroom of bedroom 4 need sorting out. Noise from downstairs up until midnight was too loud.

Facilities would be good for a longer stay (we only booked as it was the last room left, we did not need for cooking/dining/lounge etc. The pub is so lovely (so a shame we couldn’t get a room in-house).

Sound of person walking around above was as if they were in our apartment! Presumably also had laminate floor and noise echoed around as so few soft furnishings in our space to dampen the sound. Bed small and lumpy. We slept so badly that we did not manage to get to breakfast - having been told it was only available til 9:30. When we checked out any 9:45 we were then told by another staff member that we could have breakfast if we liked! By then we had agreed to meet friends (to pay again) for breakfast elsewhere. Timing of breakfast and checkout both seem early for a Sunday?

i would avoid staying in The Old Bull Inn, It is a very old building requiring repairs.

I asked for a double bed but only got 2 single. One window would not close as falling apart and had to be covered with a towel to stop very cold air coming into room. 2 lights were blown. The TV only had a mobile indoor aerial and so picture often pixalated. Early on when flushed toilet dirty water bubbled up into bath, A very bright light shone outside one of the windows so as a result we only had a couple of hours sleep.

Apartment was beautifully warm in the freezing weather. Breakfast was delicious & service great.

Living area in apartment had an extremely bright green emergency exit light which made the room too light to sleep in on the sofa bed! (Bedroom was perfectly dark)

Heating in room. Radiator needed bleeding. Staff tried but unable to free valve. Room cold. Supplied a stand alone heater. Shower in bathroom took too long to regulate and you stood a chance of getting very hot water on you.

Great stay after initial panic when we found we had been given the wrong key for our room!

lovely old world Inn. The breakfast was very good… great cooked full English ( even on Boxing Day) and. good choice of fruit and cereals. The situation in Royston was good and there was plenty of space for parking.

We arrived on Xmas day morning to collect our key ( both for outer door and our room) as the hotel was closed after 3.00 p.m that day and not staffed after that. we arrived at about 10 p.m on that evening and managed to get into the hotel fine. However we had been given the wrong room key in the morning ( key for room 6 and not room 9).We found ourselves in a single room with an unmade bed , and not the double room we were expecting! luckily there was a list of numbers to call in the event of an emergency and we were able to call someone who came within 5 Minutes and gave us the correct key. our double room was fine though a little cold and we were unable to adjust the radiator to get any heat coming through.

The Breakfast was excellent and the staff were really nice.

The pillows were not comfortable and the bathroom was so small it was a challenge to get into it. Also, it was impossible to have a shower without getting my hair wet.

The breakfast is delicious and cooked to order so it arrives piping hot unlike big hotel breakfast bars with lukewarm sausages and bacon that taste of nothing really.

A good visit

The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly, the bar and breakfast were lovely.

Parking can be an issue due to other events taking place on site. The rooms definitely need updating, but they were clean and comfortable. We had a bigger room this time because the other time we visited our room was small so we upgraded to the 4 poster bed room which was much better.

Had a nice time

The friendly staff, the location, but it is difficult to find due to one way system, the breakfast was lovely, the bar was lively and good, and it was a nice easy stay.

I think the rooms need overhauling and a refresh, I think it probably hasn't been updated since the 80s , it needs some work. But it didn't spoil my stay.

It wasn't made clear that the accommodation was quite a walk away from the Inn. It's in a badly lit alley way. The property was a bit shabby, bathroom not particularly clean. Double bed was tiny. Furniture was clearly flat packed and assembled badly. Kettle didn't work. Didn't feel particularly safe. Sign on the main door asking to make sure it was closed properly to stop squatters getting in. Dear me!

Comfy bed and very quiet, so an excellent night's sleep Excellent English breakfast Location was perfect to walk anywhere in Royston, and an easy walk to the train station for London/Cambridge. Staying in a pub was really nice - to enjoy a beer and a chat at the bar before retiring to a room is a treat.

The hard water of the area made the lever to switch the taps from bath to shower very hard to move. Eventually managed it. The bathroom fan is an old model that is extremely noisy. A whisper-quiet fan on a modern timer switch would be an improvement. The fan cover in one of the two bathrooms in the Apartment 1 was on the floor by the door, and the ceiling fan was open. Looked like a service project that was incomplete. The inside of the fan cover was filthy so it wasn't a good look.
