The room was decorated lovely, the food was beautiful, both dinner and breakfast, and i loved the old building. Location was great for what i needed.
The room was very noisy at nighttime, im not sure if i stayed in a room next to a staff room, but there was doors banging and clattering late into the night, i assumed it was night staff, which kept me awake during the night, so it wasn't my best nights sleep.

It was Christmas and was all I needed.
The toilet didnt flush properly at all
7.0 / 10.0
The location was perfect with the addition of a car park.
Some areas of the room were very dusty/dirty for example behind the side table (where I went to plug my phone it), the velvet curtains looked very dirty and the corners of the room. It could do with a deep clean. There was also an unpleasant odour in the hallway between the reception and first floor. I was disappointed with the cleanliness.

I liked the night watchman: He prepared an early morning continental breakfast with a lovely warm croissant and was very helpful. Thanks !
The room was cold !

Toilet flush didn’t seem to be working properly.

Staff lovely, breakfast good, location good
Absolutely filthy dirty room, pills, fluff and hair under bed, dust was everywhere as were cobwebs. Tv only had 3 channels BBC 1 no volume, bathroom blind permanently down as all air con until outside window which hummed day and night. No shower gel.

Good location. Good breakfast. Had a good night sleep
Would’ve liked Marmalade or jam with toast but a small thing, the breakfast, tea and coffee very nice

The breakfast was delicious, and the location was great.
The staff were not great, no one told us any information when we checked in, at breakfast no one said what was or wasn’t included with our stay, we asked for things several times before they arrived at our table. The place was also just quite tired, lots of peeling pain in the bathroom and the place looked like it needed a spruce up and a deep clean.

Sadly, everything was very unpleasant: the room, reception, dining area, bathroom, outside area.
Filthy room. The room had not been cleaned since the last occupant yet we were pointedly told that housekeeping had "blitzed it" when eventually a lady came to reception. No alternate room was available. The bedsheets were unchanged with body hair, body fluid and food in. Bathroom had faeces in. Shower had blood and faeces in. Half a toilet roll. Surfaces dusty. Carpet filthy. Bathrobes had body hair and stains on. 2 hangers for 2 people. Fingerprints and dirt on mirrors. Towels stained and faeces on. Nobody on reception. Then told no housekeeping available to sort. No apology, just whispering comments. Breakfast glass with earwig in. Tampon in bin. Breakfast cold and took half an hour to arrive. No welcome and found our own table. Table filthy and food all over floor, eg. stale bread and old meat. All public areas were unhoovered and stained. Considering the building was renovated in 2016 it appeared that no maintenance had been done. Paint uncared for and next door bedroom looked as if lock had been forced. All staff look deflated and unhappy with no direction or apparent manager.
The worst hotel we have stayed in. £130 paid for no sleep and upset stomachs afterwards.

Staff were very friendly. Location was great, close to station and across from picturesque church.
Cleanliness of the room wasn't good: coffee machine full of old pods, bits all over the carpet, one of the dressing gowns had been used. The bedding was poor quality, the old bobbled duvet was hanging out of the duvet cover by the morning which wasn't nice to wake up to. Breakfast was lovely, but the dining room wasn't clean: bits all over the chairs, food on the floor from previous night. Finally, the online check in/check out was a bit bizarre considering it's a small hotel. For £280 I expected a lot more.

The rooms were very clean, lovely bathroom and enjoyed the coffee and biscuits available in the rooms. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Would stay again if were in the area
Nothing was wrong with this hotel although our room faced the main road and above the beer cellar so was a little noisier than expected.

The food was excellent, staff very friendly
Very noisy room , unfortunately over looking busy road , definitely overpriced for a deluxe room as didn’t meet those standards, very cold bathroom as very large (but nice )so needed heating for towels , had a nice mirror with lights but didn’t work!

The restaurant and the staff in the restaurant was fabulous.
The rooms are in need of updating. They look very tired and whilst the interior design is lovely, it looks like it was done quite cheaply about 10 years ago.

We have stayed here twice before and have always thought it really good. Each time the rooms have been beautiful, the cleanliness perfect and the breakfasts good (although not always perfect but how many places is breakfast ever perfect!) I really enjoy staying here, we have family in Royston and have stayed here at Easter for the last 3 years - we look forward to it.
For 3 years now we have asked for pineapple juice at breakfast but alas......... I like the way the a big glass of fruit juice is brought to your table at breakfast but maybe ask first if people want lots of ice in it - it can be a bit hard on sensitive teeth!

We had dinner & breakfast, the food was lovely and the staff so friendly! Had a great time! The bed was very comfy so slept well too.

Breakfast was good
The rooms all have a bright green LED light in the ceiling that makes it hard to sleep. Our room specifically had the windows completely obscured in order to block out the view of industrial machinery - but that didn't block the noise, which also kept us up at night. Also, the toilets didn't flush properly and the shower and toilet in our room were both dirty-looking. All in all, not what we expected for the price.

Nothing! Everything was perfect!

Staff were super welcoming, friendly and helpful. Always a ready happy smile. I did not feel like an intrusion on their day unlike so many of the impersonal multinational chains.
WhenI was the only one for late breakfast, yet I was not made to feel like an intrusion on their day.
The funky quirky decor is really different but well done so it is not OTT. Our spacious bathroom was to die for with a really big deep bath and no apprentice end to the hot water. The products supplied were good too.
The food at the hotel was excellent, with a large menu with lots of variety.
Despite being at the front of the hotel our room was very quiet and was also very clean and tidy.
The choose of bar / restaurant seating was nice and didn’t make any difference to the quality of service, bot had a good atmosphere when we were settled that was just down to the company.
The door lock was a bit loose as it it had been forced at some time but it still locked securely.
Whilst WE LOVED the quirky four poster and It was ****NOT**** an issue for us; the bed is a bit low and other guests may find it an issue.

I loved the way I could get extra coffee milk water etc when I needed. The staff didn’t have a problem
With request. They were so nice. I can’t remember the names but they were really lovely . I would like to say- the manager was really lovely- helpful.
I didn’t dislike anything

Well looked after by Jeff. Breakfast is always very good, in fact, the food generally is very good.
Long afternoon of a Karcher being used to clean moss and dirt, some of which wound up on the car.

The full English breakfasts were delicious. Served piping hot (how we like our food served), and good quality produce.
We both found our bathrooms to have a mild, slightly damp smell.

The bath was amazing, the bed comfortable however very low
The photograph gives an expectation that the hotel is in its own grounds when in reality is in the centre of the town, next to a busy road and actually rooms over a pub and not a hotel. The staff were very standoffish and not very helpful at all. The breakfast very poor with the advertised continental breakfast consisting of packets of cereals, a croissant or pain au chocolate. this is as far removed from a continental breakfast as it gets. Asked the waitress for sliced toast with normal bread not the sourdough that was offered and she didn’t understand, after a few attempts to explain I settled for what was offered.
