The room was quiet even though there is a pub downstairs. Location ok if you want to be in that area of Galway.

The place absolutely stank of cigarettes. People were smoking indoors. Bed very uncomfortable. Had a mould smell and there was visible black mould all around the window.

The location was the only positive part of the stay

The guy on reception was not welcoming or helpful. Never made eye contact, just put the key out for the room on the desk, gave directions to the room, and took payment. Never offered to help with luggage, which had to lug up several flights of stairs. There was a smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway going up the stairs. The room was hideous, windows that didn't close, latch broken, torn wallpaper, ill-fitting carpet, which also looked disgusting filthy. Noise all night. Woken up several times by whomever was using the room upstairs. They should not call this a hotel, its not in the same postcode as a hotel. Hovel more like. Extremely bad value for money.

The hotel suited our needs during our travels.

The accommodations suited our needs. Variety of restaurants in walking distance. Enjoyed walking down the boardwalk along the water. Good bed, slept well.

Weather was hot, the room was warm, so opened window to cool room during the night, street noise was ok after it got late. The space was smaller than other places we booked. We had a number of stairs to climb with luggage.

Expensive for what you get.

Room was spacious

Narrow stairs are hard to navigate with luggage. Little to no staff. Parking is free on the promenade and I wasn't told this. I was told behind the cinema which was pay only. I was directed to the wrong parking. Expensive for what it is.

Arrived to the hotel to find they had sold out of rooms leaving us stranded at 10pm. This is despite receiving a booking confirmation from the property. No other accommodation could be found FORCING us to return to Dublin and canceling our entire trip. Unacceptable from the property.

Holiday hotel salthill

The price i paid for 1 night is excellent. Couldn't fault it .Rooms just as shown on booking.com.My room was at the back of the hotel with a view of pipes and stairs.Which was a pity... ..The location is ideal in salthill near the promade to go for a walk .The Holiday Hotel has some great restaurants and shops in the vacinity.The staff are very friendly and ²welcoming. The bar was full of locals and very busy at night. Which is a great sign.I will definitely come back again .So thank you, too, everyone who looked after us.

Wifi is poor due to extremely thick walls.Bedroom doors could do with draft excluding attachments at the bottoms as draft causing banging when fire doors were opened and windy outside.

Outdated rooms and too much money for what you get

Very close to the beach, short taxi ride to center of Galway. Reception was ok. Nobody was there when I wanted to complain the shower, no hot water after 1st night. In the end found housekeeper who came to have a look at the problem and reported it to management. Bathroom was very basic. Sink was size for guest toilet, with a hot and cold push button. Top of mirror installed at shoulder height. Smallest shower I had in a hotel

Very outdated and too much money for what you get. Would not recommend ! Room had same look from 60's-70's, carpet was old and dirty, could only open bathroom door halfway as it hit the bed. Very basic bathroom. With smallest shower I even had in hotel. Sink was size for guest toilet. There was no hot water after the first night, on 2nd night problem seemed to be fixed. Too much money for what you get. Don't stay here!

A wonderful hotel with a bright Irish flavor

A wonderful hotel with a bright Irish flavor! Downstairs there is a very popular pub, maybe one of the oldest in the city. The rooms are spacious with good quality bed linen and towels, right opposite there is a grocery store, many cafes and restaurants, free parking within walking distance, 15 minutes walk to the city center. I recommend it for anyone traveling by car for a stopover for 2-3 nights.

Nothing other than potentially its location

For the life of me I cannot imagine where you get the reviews from and to what degree the photography has been photoshopped. I was doubtful at the time of booking but read the reviews and it seemed ok. Had I had the presence of mind to look at Tripadvisor I would never have booked. SO… being lifted of 155 euros and clambered up umpteen flights of stairs to get to our room, I was shocked at what I saw. Swinging of cats came to mind and then I went into the bathroom. Ok I’m a big lad but absolutely no way could I fit in what they called a shower - to be honest I think my slim and fit wife would have a problem too. I wondered about how I would wash the next morning and noticed there was no plug in the sink and NOR was one available. The comical bit came after going to the loo - I asked my wife: “How do you flush this” …to which her response was: “You pull the chain!! Although I am sure the right measures are in place to comply with the risk of fire, frankly we were uncomfortable being in the room we were in but maybe that’s just us. We left, immediately, 15 minutes after paying - very angry to have been deceived like this. I will be writing to Glenn Fogel.

Shocking experience

Was on a budget travelled from Sligo to Galway as could afford the price to stay and go out with friends for the night as a treat, was just 5 mins away from property and got a call from hotel saying sorry double booked and no room for you, I asked him could he try and help me out some way and he said the radison was available at a reasonable rate on booking.com I explained I couldn’t afford the extra cost but he offered nothing else .. decided not to go out with friends as had to pay extra money on hotel but Raddison hotel was so nice to me, couldn’t believe the way I was treated and gave me a free upgrade definitely recommend Raddison Galway but stay clear of Hollday Hotel

Perfect, quick seaside break for one night.

Booked this hotel at short notice and was not disappointed. Just wanted a quick break away. The shower was hot, the view over the sea nice, perfect location. It was what we paid for. No fuss or drama. The pub situated below showed the Connaught Final and there was good banter in there. Also, free parking to the rear of the hotel, Council owned, accessed near the aquarium center. Another expense usually added to the price of a stay away.

Great location in Salthill (Oslo bar across the road for dinner, Creamery cafe along the seafront for breakfast), quiet despite its central location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff, good value for the location.

Laundry bags obstructing the route to the fire exit overnight - not ideal. Room had a single and a double bed, would have been easier to access bathroom if the two beds had swapped position.

Great value for money, staff are friendly, shower pressure is low

The beds were comfortable, and clean. Plenty of towels provided too. The stairs are quite narrow but as it’s a heritage building it’s justifiable. One downside was the shower as there was very poor water pressure. Another key could have been provided since we booked a triple room. Staff were lovely and the vibe of the place was great. I would stay here again 100%, it was great value for money and I enjoyed my stay!

Good value for money

The room was not big, but good enough if you are traveling solo or with a partner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a problem with the shower and they solved it as fast as they could, no complaints. The location was great, Salthill is a beautiful area, nice to walk along the beach, and there are many restaurants and pubs. The hotel has a pub below, but I didn't hear any noises. The room was comfortable and clean. I would stay there again.

It was clean,accessible and priced was very reasonable

Location is good- though waiting for bus means it can run late.It is accessible by public transport - though couldn't fathom exactly where Lower Salthill is- it worked out.

Would be good if a spot was open to have a snack in house- I had left room and checked out.The bar didn't open before 12.00. I was advised that the Galleon nearby did food( was told there is discount on B/B visitors.I got a panini in nearby Centra, following a.m.It suited me fine.

Easy walk to boardwalk and restaurants

Great location...near boardwalk, restaurants and 10 minute walk to see Trad on the Prom. Bed was comfortable. Lots of outlets.

Poor signage/address. Front desk missing for several minutes before we could check in. Had to run shower for 5 minutes to get variable degrees hot water. Parking is wherever you can find it. Room isn't cheery but location great for what we needed.
