Our Go To for Salthill

We visit Salthill around Christmas every year and always book this place. We can never fault it, rooms are comfortable and clean and great value for money.

We recently stayed in room 001 , the curtains left a small bit of light in as they didn’t fully cover the window. Not a big deal as we stayed in winter so daylight didn’t hit until 8am or so. However this may have been an issue in summer time. Maybe look at adding blackout blinds to this room.

Lovely stay

Spotless clean, warm, hugh room and bathroom, there is a lift we were in room 202 and had a great night's sleep. Lovely coffee shop with a log burner.

I did not pay for breakfast so cannot comment. Location is about 20 minutes walk into city centre

Room Rate could be lower if charging €8.00 extra for a continental breakfast. On a quiet night of week especially during off peak season maybe lower rates given Nest Hostel location is outside city OR; otherwise offer continental breakfast free of charge OR; Stay X number of nights and get one night FREE

Fantastic! Can't recommend highly enough for travelers wanting a comfortable, laid-back home base.

The overall "vibe" of the hostel is very trendy and artistic. Lots of cleverly arranged touches here and there to make it feel cozy, yet refined in a more avant-garde fashion. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and seemed genuinely interested in being sure that we had everything we needed. The laundry facilities are a life-saver for travelers packing light, and not unreasonable priced. The convenience of having a well-stocked commercial kitchen was also a bonus, if you want to keep some food there and prep some meals to save $$$! The location is fabulous and within easy walking distance of the Saltway Prom and city center. Bus stops are also very close by. The room we stayed in the first night was a dorm-style with 6-8 beds. I believe it was more comfortable and better arranged than the hostel we experienced in Edinburgh. The remainder of our stay, we were in a private 2-bed suite. Everything was very nice. I think overall, a much more cozy and comfortable experience than a hotel would have been.

Beautiful space, great staff, very comfortable, great location!

Great location - easy walking distance into Galway Centre. Lovely staff and gathering space/coffee bar. Comfortable beds. Felt secure. Nice to have locking lockers for storage when I arrived (before check-in) and for items too large to fit in room lockers. I liked the privacy curtains on the bunks (but see below). Great vibe overall! Note: just farther up the road is the Gourmet Tart Co. - a great find for wholesome, nutritious food upon arrival after an overnight flight and long bus ride (there are several of these around Galway - higly recommend!)

Minor complaint concerning my top bunk: there was space between the bed and the wall, meaning anything left untethered (phone/water bottle/glasses/valuables I wanted to keep right beside me) were at risk of falling off and all the way down behind the bottom bunk. Adding a shelf to block that gap would be a huge increase in convenience. Also, since the bunks had curtains, I didn't know when others were in the room (sorry to the person I may have woken up mid-afternoon!). Also, the lights in the bathroom were a bit temperamental. But these were minor issues. Overall, I would certainly stay there again.

The room was comfortable enough, and clean. It's hard to comment on the view, as it was lashing down with rain most of the time. The breakfast could've had some pastry/croissant vegan options, and dairy free spread, but was otherwise good.

It was all good, but tea and coffee making facilities in the room would definitely have elevated the experience!

The room was very small and with slanted ceiling it made me feel claustrophobic. They had decorated it with little lights which helped.

Basic no frills accommodation but comfortable!

There is a lift! Room and bathroom were spacious. Bed was large and comfortable. Kitchen facilities were good but we didn’t use them apart from hot water for early morning tea. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Car parking right outside. Walking distance of Galway, we walked in and out for a meal, about 20 minutes and lovely walk back following the line of the bay. Close to local restaurants for breakfast or dinner. Good room key activated security.

We were only given two bath sized towels and no hand towels. Not sure if that was a mistake. If you are tall (we are not) our room was in the roof so restricted height at the sides.

Comfortable.

I loved the style and all the colors. The common area was beautifully done. The kitchen had all the amenities, and there was a café that opened every morning with a breakfast buffet for €8. My room was tidy and small, but perfect for a solo traveler.

The parking and they didn’t have hand towels or wash cloths.

Pleasant but way too cramped for 2 people sharing a room.

The place was clean, the communal kitchen was excellent and the sitting area was large with comfy chairs.

Ourtwin room was very cramped with nowhere to put out suitcases but on the bed (then stand them up at night); the toilet didn’t flush properly and there was no TV in our room or in the common area.

Fine but overpriced

It was clean and staff was nice. It was also uncomplicated to book breakfast, check in and check out. There is an elevator which makes it easy with heavy luggage.

We booked a separate room with bathroom and the bathroom door (sliding) did not fully close. This was very inconvenient. Also, to turn on the bathroom light you had to close the bathroom door as the switch was behind the door, making it a "close-switch-open-close-switch" move that was very illogical. Maybe consider a better door and changing the switch position.

For comfortable staying best place to choose is Nest!!

No complains at all. Super happy with staying such a wonderful hostel. Except some outside vehicle noise the experience was 9 out of 10. The young boy was such a kind heart also the girl was in kitchen is so helpful. If we visit again then we will definitely choose "Nest". 🥰

We loved our stay at the Nest! Fantastic value, lovely spacious room, clean room and bathroom, and friendly staff. Great location too.

Our bed was very noisy/squeaky - we kept waking one another up whenever either of us moved! The corridor was also a bit noisy - but there are earplugs available from reception, so next time I would just get a pair of those. Neither would put me off staying again - overall we loved our stay.
