My stay at The Social Hub in Maastricht was unfortunately one of my worst experiences in the Netherlands. Upon checking in, I was given room #41, where the mattress was so dirty that it caused skin rashes, a condition I documented clearly on video. The in-room phone, intended solely to call reception, was essentially useless as no one ever answered. I had to physically visit the reception to show the staff the skin rashes and video proof, prompting them to relocate me to room #715. The new room had a somewhat better mattress, but there were still significant issues. The room lacked a safe for valuables, and even after requesting a change, the bedding continued to emit an unpleasant odor. Ultimately, we resorted to purchasing our own bedding from a local market in the city center to ensure basic comfort. Additionally, the air conditioning unit was subpar. Even at maximum fan speed, it failed to cool effectively, far below the standard expected in any reputable hotel. The housekeeping staff further compounded the issue with their glaringly unprofessional conduct. They entered rooms wearing black latex gloves, cleaned the bathrooms, and then used the same gloves to handle the bedding—an unacceptable breach of basic hygiene standards. My stay lasted from June 12th to June 29th, totaling 17 days, costing me €4,122.00 including taxes. Given this substantial amount, I anticipated an exceptional stay. Instead, my experience was so poor that it negatively impacted my perception of Maastricht itself. Although my original checkout was scheduled for June 30th, I completed my work earlier and checked out on the 29th. Disappointingly, the hotel refused to refund the last night’s accommodation, agreeing only to attempt a refund of the city tax. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone with high expectations to seek accommodation elsewhere.

Very friendly staff, the bed was amazingly comfortable.

Spacious room and comfortable bed! They also have a late check out (untill noon), which was great. Check in and check out are made by yourself - super easy. :)

The staff was super friendly. The high ceilings make the room look even bigger. I loved the decor of the hotel. Breakfast was also nice.

Because it is an old indistrial building there is some noise coming through the wall. Nothing too annoying.

Matras had some weird bubbles? on it, was absolutely uncomfortable to sleep. There was a menu for food in the room, but the receptionist said that they don’t do room service and it is unavailable. Tea bags but only little water glasses? what was the sense behind it? Weak shower. Very cheap toilet paper. Stuff- neutral, but I experienced better, after a long way the complex registration process with the stuff who assume you already know their system- not a very pleasant start.

The location is great.

2 things: Do not expect a proper breakfast because everything (bread, eggs, bacon, milk in the coffee machine) is finished 30 minutes before the end of breakfast and not replenished because the hotel "does not want to throw food away" and solving the issue with the staff is very difficult. Secondly, the deluxe kingsize bed screeches and the sound insulation of the rooms is poor. You hear everything of the guests in the next room ;-)
