We had a little trouble with the circular bed, which is not quite as big as we had imagined. We would have preferred an ordinary bed.

You will be grateful to get a room with "Le Parvis" - it is life-changing

the whole family who greeted us were incredibly kind, gracious, and were so willing to do everything possible to make our stay positive. Having the Chartres cathedral right outside our door was awe-inspiring. The breakfast was unusually copious and delicious. We can't wait to go back when the owners return in April.

Typically French hotel in a great location

Quirky, friendly hotel in a great location, literally in the shadow of Notre Dame Cathedral. We were made to feel very welcome and the hotel has a really authentically French feel to it. Hearty breakfast served with a smile and a parking permit available for those driving to the hotel.

Would happily return to stay again

Breakfast was plentiful with superb croissants served with house made jam, and assorted meats and cheese, plentiful butter and good strong coffee. Our hosts Francois was incredibly kind and generous, driving us to car rental office that was difficult to reach by phone. He went above and beyond as a host. Cannot say enough good things about how we enjoyed meeting him and his family, including his delightful grandson Jules. The Location was spectacular next to cathedral during the incredibly inventive light show. Very quaint historic building with some to-be-expected quirks. The location and kindness of our hosts made for a wonderful stay. Les Anges is a beautiful picturesque room facing the cathedral and main square.

Superb service in a Grand Hotel with perfect location!

The owners were so very nice & accommodating! The old Paris Hotel was unique & amazing! The location in front of the Cathedral & square was perfect. Easy to walk, great restaurants, little Petit Train was right there! Breakfast was delightful! It was a Diamond in the Rough! Visit the Cave of the Hotel & you will be amazed at the architecture! Merci beaucoup to Francois & Guillome!

It was the most unpleasant 5 minutes I’ve ever spent in a hotel room!!!

Absolutely nothing.

It’s literally nothing like the pictures which make it look amazing. We had to park on the roadside of an extremely narrow road. The room was absolutely filthy with the floor looking like it hadn’t been washed in years. There were pubic hairs in the sink, dust hanging from the AC unit, stains all over the bed. The bed was some sort of cheap round affair that looked awful, the furniture had been painted some god awful silver with the dresser missing a large chunk of wood from it, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. We booked this hotel as we were travelling back from the Dordogne and had already driven 4.5hrs so wanted an overnight stay before driving another 4 hours to Calais to get the train back to the Uk. Having seen the state of the place we didn’t even unpack, we just booked an early train (at an extra cost of £80 (GBP)) and literally got back in the car and drove another 4 hours to Calais. We are almost £200 out of pocket thanks to this hotel . We have tried to obtain a refund from both the hotel and Booking.com but to no avail😡

What a find!

The lovely friendly hosts were super. They helped us park close by as it is right in the old city next to the Catherdral and spaces are scarce. The room "Bleue" was great. From the bedroom door you look right out onto the catherdral and can walk out the back door down dedicated steps to it - that how you can return too! Great ancient cellars too.

A good overnight stop; we would stay there again.

A very comfortable hotel with an excellent location looking on to the cathedral square. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The proprieters were very helpful explaning the medieval and 17th century origins of the building. As a bonus we were able to see some of the light shows around Chartres.

Getting access by car was slightly awkward but there is not much the hotel can do as it is in a conroleed historic area.

Hotel NOT being open when I got there late afternoon. Hotel not being open (no staff around) when I left next morning about 7 am. Room had a musty spell and dark heavy curtains, washroom way too small. Altogether, an unpleasant experience.

An exceptional location, a beautiful hotel and wonderful hosts

A beautiful building with historical styled rooms. It was perfectly in keeping with the location, which is second to none. The hosts were exceptional, wonderful people who were excellent hoteliers.

Very minor parts, the radio in the shower didn’t work properly (so it was a little odd that it was there), and the lock on the bathroom door was a little ill-fitting.

location and the old worldliness

hotel was totally locked when we arrived , no staff to receive us. no staff at the hotel or restaurant below. after an hour or so we had made contact with the owner who was in Paris. he tried to explain how to park the car. eventually another guest of the hotel explained parking and found us the ticket. the owner phoned again and gave us the code for the key press to get into the hotel and telling us the room we were to stay in. with no staff we were unable to book breakfast. someone needs to be at the hotel to welcome guests and not leave until they are settled in.
