I will try another hotel should I need a hotel in Chartres next time!

Excellent location in the centre of Chartres . The young man in reception who added heating and a blanket to our cold room was very helpful

Our room was cold, really cold. The staff added a heater and blanket but not what I except from a Mercure. I paid to have a room with a view of the cathedral: it had not that view! The breakfast was ok but again not up to standard. As I put the card in the checkout box the woman at the desk didn’t acknowledge me at all which was shocking! I repeat this is not what I expect from my favourite hotel chain. Used a great deal each year!

We booked this hotel around an hour before arrival as the hotel details stated that it has parking facilities but after booking the hotel we received an e-mail stating that it actually does not have its own parking facilities but need to use public parking nearby. We did try and check out the public car park but as it was very busy we had to drive a long way to find a space, by which time it was too far for my husband to walk back to the hotel with luggage. Also there is not a proper bar in the hotel which is also misleading. Booking.com tried to get a refund but the hotel refused.

Great for a stop over, the location is ideal, everywhere is walkable

Good for quick overnight family stop

Plenty of storage, reasonable size for one night stay for family of 4 with kids under 10 but would have struggled if we were there for longer/with older kids. Main bed was comfortable, sofa bed less so. Good shower but bathroom floor tiles dangerously slippery when wet - bigger mat needed.. Good location, easy walking distance to everything we needed. Didn't have breakfast there but it looked good, found a boulangerie nearby instead (Feuillette) with better coffee than many.

Fire alarm went off not once but twice during the night. False alarms happily, but we did not know that at 4, and then 5 in the morning. We had to ask for compensation, and the cost of breakfast was removed from the ill. The management could have done better we thought.

Our third stay at this particular Mercure in Chartres. We love the location and the fact that in a busy city it is so quiet. Reception staff are always so helpful.

The cathedral light show left us speechless, while Novotel offered us presictable comfort.

You can see the cathedral’s spires when standing just outside the Hotel’s lobby, if you frown and believe in it hard enough. As we were about to walk into Chartre’s drizzle to be blown away by imaginative projection of lights on Chartres’ cathedral, the receptionist handed us two umbrellas. We had already noticed her warmth and became grateful for her attention to details. For food, Novotel does Novotel and that’s fine. But, step out, turn left and you’ll find a gem of a Japanese restaurant. For Breakfast, we sat in a boulangerie 15 min walk away, it had a world record Madeleine on display (size of a small pet).

Shower was broken - kept falling off the attachment. Wine from the bar was off. However staff were responsive when informed of these issues, and took more details about shower and refunded the wine.

Good location. Ten minute walk to cathedral. Near restaurants. Easy check-in and check-out. Good breakfast. Can park in front to load and unload baggage. Comfortable beds.

Comfortable hotel with a great location, good value.

Rooms were fine, large enough, comfortable. The location is great, an easy walk to the cathedral and old town. Value is spot on. If you drive, there is a convenient space in front of the hotel where you can unload your vehicle and check in. After you check in, best to park in the Coeur de Ville parking lot nearest the hotel, better still to reserve your spot online.

Not much. Everything was pretty great, except things the hotel can't control, like traffic and narrow streets, that's the nature of the place.

A comfortable and attractive hotel, well sited for visiting all the attractions of Chartres.

The Mercure is extremely well sited in Chartres, within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions, which are many. Breakfast is excellent, and staff always friendly and helpful. There is a pleasant outside table by the bar and the hotel offers free snacks such as fruit.

We have stayed at this hotel before, and this time our room, for which we paid the same price, was smaller and not so well sited to connect with our disabled daughter's room. There was a heatwave while we were there, and our bedroom window could not be opened, though the air conditioning was working, thank goodness.

Great location, near the heart of Chartres. Three minutes walk from the Cathedral. Check in staff were amazing - all very helpful! The room is very clean, functional and a reasonable size. Breakfast was standard hotel fare - all fresh, plentiful (and great coffee!) Hotel offers discount parking at nearby carpark (even though it's a little complicated to sort out the pre-booking process and carpark ticketing system (the carpark attendants were very helpful!) Parking out the front of the hotel to drop off/collect bags is an added bonus!

when I wake up in the morning, I can see the beautiful cathedral from my bed! It was one of the best mornings of my life!!! (You should request a room with a view of the cathedral whenever possible) I had an issue with our room on arrival but the staff quickly and enthusiastically resolved the issue. especially the reception staff are always friendly, helpful and wonderful. the room facilities are perfect. I wanna live here XD

Quiet Night, Easy drop off, closeness to the Cathedral easy parking very close to the hotel. The family room was good and very clean.
