Booked rooms with two single beds, got two double rooms instead. Mattress of double bed very thin.

Room had someone else in it, very awkward, not the cleanest, swapped rooms to a double bed the request for 2 singles was ignored.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is small but you have everything you need to sleep comfortably for a couple of nights.

Disappointing and not value for money.

Excellent location close to cathedral

Was allocated a double room rather than twin we booked. Had to be moved but room was still small. Room was not clean- items on the floor and generally grubby and tired.

Clean throughout and great hostel to stay in for short stays. Offers just a basic bed and bathroom which is to be expect

The hostel is very close to the cathedral and main train station, just a minute or two walk away. The staff were friendly on reception, always saying hello in passing. Within the rooms, the mattress was comfy, on the former side but I prefer that. Curtains were complete black out which helped with sleep. Overall, very clean too.

We were placed at the front side of the hostel, overlooking the road. This meant if we kept the windows open at night it would have been too noisy. The windows however did block out a lot of noise but with no air con or fans, it did get hot during the night so it was either be warm and quiet or cool and loud. We did not realise there was a gaming convention on at the time we booked which meant prices for all accommodation was raised, this was the cheaper option and I’m not sure how basic the rooms were could justify the price.

Near to the railway station, friendly and helpful staff

Location is excellent, near to the station. It is a simple but nice hotel. Likely to stay again.

You get what you paid for. Staff and rooms are clean. The only downside is there is no AC.

Our room had the view of the Cathedral.

There was no AC or fan in the bedroom so we needed to open the window for the whole night and that has caused us to hear all the noises from outside like the bells of the church.

I would definitely use a&o again.

The location was quite close to Cologne Cathedral. The breakfast was sufficient for the price I paid. I liked the pancake making machine. The staff were friendly. Room was small but served my needs as I travelled alone. Bed was comfy.

I wanted to give minus points, it's a disgrace....

Only the location is good. Everything is terrible and bad except the location. Go sleep in the cathedral, you'll be more comfortable.

The rooms are extremely small. You can't move around in the room, there's no place to put your bag or suitcase, no closet, no drawers. The bathroom is too small, you can't move to dry yourself if you take a shower. It is not clear when the room's floors were last mopped. There is dust on the floor behind the door, flying everywhere. The walls are very thin, like paper. You can hear everything being said in the next rooms. If someone farts, you can hear it. Everyone who enters or leaves the room doors slam, the noise is terrible. It is impossible to sleep and rest. Breakfast is very poor, bad cheese, bad delicatessen, better not to have it. Whoever calls this breakfast has never seen breakfast. Despite all this disgrace, the price is too high. I never recommend it. Never...

Appalling.It amazes me that in your information, you said nothing about about the site's limitations

Most of the very limited staff did their best under difficult circumstances.Rooms were too small and the bed, uncomfortable.I now know that the demand for rooms was high, but it was impossible to match the room rent with the low quality offered,patticularly given that the limitations were not disclosed to me in advance.

The accommodation was poor,very uncomfortable.and expensive.

"Does what it says on the tin"

The receptionist was friendly and welcoming on our arrival. The location was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the shower worked. It ticked all the boxes we required of a one-night stop over.

This is essentially like a hostel with some simple, clean, adequate single rooms. It was basic but reliable and at a good location just near the train station - good for the airport.

You can't get a better location; you look out your window and the Cathedral is almost next door. There are many different types of restaurants close by. The facility is very spartan but clean. Breakfasts were great. There's an elevator for the higher floors. The Cologne bahnhof is 1/2 block away. The staffers were friendly and spoke very fluent English.

I desperately wanted a small desk so I could write about the beauty of the Cathedral, but the room had only a bed and small shelf (though it did have a nice wall television).

the location! right next to the cathedral, and dependant on which side of the hostel you was at you would have views of the cathedral which was stunning to wake up to and also to see at night as it lit up

the cleanliness, the outdated lift, the bathroom (toilet flush was broken, shower just trickled, and the door wasn’t even on the rail for the shower) and someone’s toenail in the corner of the room under the window

Pleasant

The location is good and convenience. Few minutes walk to train station. Rooms are quiet. Feel safety as the main entrance has to access by guest room key for opening the door.

Need to improve on the breakfast quality. Breakfast time is 0700-1100. We went to have breakfast at 0945 one day but egg, ham, bread and juice already empty and no more refill. At the end the staff filled up 3 pcs egg and few pieces bread only for 5 people seating in the restaurant.
