Rickerby Grange Country House

Location was excellent. Plenty of parking.

Breakfast could have been slightly better in terms of quantity of food.

The single room was quite small with a separate bathroom down the hall, but it was good enough for a short stay and cheaper than other places nearby. It was lovely and quiet and there was a pub nearby to eat an evening meal at. The breakfast was good and the staff were very nice and friendly. For those who like a in-person check in, it's self-check-in here and you won't see them until breakfast. The self check-in was easy enough to do and I didn't mind.

The room was lovely, bed really comfy, bed linen cosy and shower really good. Breakfast great.

Not much. It was busy and the parking was tight but no problem.

Looked and felt modern inside. Some staff were friendlier than others. Quiet location with adequate parking although it was difficult to locate at first.

Musty almost doggy smell as soon as we entered the room. The sheets had a very musty unclean smell and made it difficult to sleep. Worse, the pillows were laughably hard and more akin to bricks. They actually hurt our ears. And we hardly slept at all. The bathroom was basic and had visible lines of black mould on the ceiling. Not great for those with allergies. The breakfast was sparce. No additional food was offered for not opting for the standard meal size. ( A first at a b&b) Brown and white toast was placed on the table without asking if we preferred one or the other.
