Lovely!

Fantastic breakfast and great location. The lounge was lovely to spend time in at the end of the day, and the host kindly made it extra cosy by lighting the fire.

The rooms themselves weren't quite as welcoming as they could be; in terms of decor. But they did the job, and we were comfortable.

The mattress on the bed was joined in the middle instead of being one complete mattress. The centre join was uncomfortable. Plus breakfast timing was very inflexible. Starting at 08.30 is too late. No porridge...??

Fabulous Guest House

Room was perfect, lots of attention to detail with thoughtful touches to make our stay fantastic. Andrew cooks a lovely breakfast too. Powe House is in a great location for Keswick Town Centre, and Derwentwater and a perfect base for exploring the area. This is my first trip to the Lake District and I had a really lovely time.

Lovely area to explore, lovely guest house and room, with friendly and informative owners ,staff and guests ! The locals

The Owners and staff were lovely and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and happy to give you ideas or directions. Lovely rooms and tidy and well organised. Clean and fresh inside, lovely dining area and living room, where you can sit quietly, or read about the adventures you are about to embark on! The surrounding scenery was fantastic and boat rides and Keswick were in walking distance. Our room was downstairs and had a separate door leading into the garden, which was lovely.

It was a lovely stay from start to finish and enjoyed it ! The house was lovely! The only thing we felt let it down a little was the house outside perhaps would show it off better if it was refresh with paint, as it would stand out more? Also the furniture in the gardens, seemed old and rickety to sit on. However we did like the picnic table and benches that looked ‘very old’ but we felt did give character to the guest house garden, although didn’t look safe to sit on? Everything was available close by or if you wished to travel further, so we didn’t get much time to sit in the garden. Apparently there are wild Deer who visit from time to time( if your in when they come?!)

My stay at Powe was simply Wow!

Loved my 4 night stay at Powe House. Ideal location to get the Honister Rambler to various locations to bag some Wainwright's. Only moved car once and that's only because I wanted to get an earlier start than the bus arrival. Andrew was a fabulous host and breakfast was yummy. My room (single) was extremely comfortable. I didn't want to leave!

The building is wonderful, with great views and if you are lucky the local deer family will say hello in the garden in the morning. The rooms are spacious and well laid out with all the facilities you need.

Powe House in Portinscale is a winner!

The decor was very inviting and relaxing. Lovely to have the use of such a beautiful sitting room and a breakfast menu offering so many choices and cooked to perfection. Andrew is a wonderful host. The most comfortable single room I have stayed in in The Lake District. Parking off street is a winner too! Great walks from Powe House and having the use of a bar fridge on the landing was wonderful.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful house, with a great host !

The breakfast options were delicious. Eggs cooked to perfection ! Beautiful old house with a lot of character. Our host Andrew gave us advice on places to visit and how to walk there. He even lent us a map.

The only thing was the fruit on the breakfast bar: it was not fresh but thawed frozen fruit (strawberries and raspberries). But it was still nice.

Our stay

Lovely room very comfortable. Great bathroom. Lots of tea, and biscuits and more on offer if required. Great information from Andrew and in the room. Fantastic breakfast plenty of food and a great choice

High quality stay in great location

Didn’t have breakfast but location great for walking nearby fells. Owners very friendly. Local pub very close with good beer and food. Lovely sitting room and grounds to relax in and guest info kept to sensible amount.

Slight niggles, dislike too strong a word. Property stated a refund was given if informed on arrival not having breakfast but no refund received. Toilet flush very loud, probably woke guests next door.

A small but perfectly comfy little room in a quintessential period Lake District house

The location is good and quiet, the owners were very helpful and friendly, food is great and a stunning Georgian building with high ceilings feels bright and airy. The shower was hot and STRONG - always welcomed! The owners have always been accommodating to my needs including very early starts / late finishes for supporting a running race which is very much appreciated.

The 1 single room they have is small, but I knew that - its why it remains available a little longer than other rooms which suits me just fine for what I needed to be in the area for.

Relaxing quiet stay with walking on the doorstep

Powe House is just outside Keswick which is an easy 20 to 30 minute walk through the village of Portinscale & along a country path. (5 mins in the car). A quiet location, there are a local pub, cafe and marina very close by. Our room was bright with large windows giving a view of the mountains (Great End), we also had access to the garden. Breakfast was great with lots of choices. The price we paid was good value. Thanks Andrew for a pleasant stay.
