Perfect hotel near train station

Perfect location near train station. Beautiful and comfy room, everything we wanted and had a wonderful sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

The staff and manager Chris were extremely professional and apologetic about the issues we encountered and offered a reasonable discount / solution so thank you for that. However we won’t be staying again unfortunately and we are frequent visitors to Dundee for family .

We booked the suite but had the junior suite as the heating wasn’t working in the room. We were there for a family funeral sadly so just needed things to work and run smoothly . Our room was cold so a member of staff bought a heater up . Poorly designed and the dim dark lighting in rooms make it impractical and difficult to do the basics like have and get ready/ put make up on as no natural lighting or mirror with a desk ( and this was in the junior suite so not sure if it’s less functional in regular rooms !) . Workmen outside our room in the morning dealing with the scaffolding made for a lack of privacy surprise so we pulled the curtains in an already badly lit room the room .

Always good for a weekend city break

New staff very friendly especially young man behind the reception. Xmas decorations were up hotel looked very festive Location

Was my birthday would have been nice to be offered a room upgrade as we are loyal and regular customers. Scaffolding outside and front door out of order. Cocktails overpriced at £15 although the young man with long hair makes delicious cocktails. Bathroom not as clean. Hair behind toilet seat and empty pill packet unger toilet roll holder.

Ideal for our visit to Dundee Rep and the V and A

I thought the bed was very comfortable, though my wife didn't agree, and the room overall was perfect for our stay. The shower was powerful and hot, while the dinner in the restaurant was very good indeed. The check in staff were friendly and helpful, as were the restaurant staff, and the location was perfect for our visit to Dundee Rep and the V and A.

Pity that there is no parking, not even a facility somewhere nearby, and also a shame that there was no bottled water in the room (although most mid-range hotels seem to have given up on that these days).

The room was hot (over 26 degrees) I put the aircon on to sleep but it would switch itself off after a few hours. I woke up sweating. There are no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels , the bath is small and yet it is to make an inconvenient shower. Finally the lighting is dark, there are times when you want to see what you are doing

Grand old building. Comfortable room with great views over the Tay. Easy to walk to city centre. Art trails, street sculptures. V and A. Discovery. All very close by. Staff all very friendly and welcoming.

No well lit mirrors in room for make up. Even in bathroom. My fish at the gala dinner was a bit dry. Difficult when catering for a large number

Central hotel in Dundee

Very central being opposite to the trainstation, waterfront, museum and Discovery museum front desk staff helpful

The chairs were heavy and not easy to move One high backed chair and footrest at 1 side of the room. Another heavy swivel chair by the desk on the other side if the room. Very cumbersome and difficult for two people to share a drink or food together. Felt we where camping out. Also the toilet roll was on the back left handside of the toilet. Makes no sense since most folks are right-handed. We took the roll off and placed it on the sink. We were there for 3 nights and our towels were not changed, even when we place the ones to be replaced on the floor

Good location, just off the Taybridge. Dog friendly, just what we needed, even had a doggy gift bag in the room for our pooch.

No hotel car park, car parking was in the public paying car parks which at time of our visit were very busy and hotel guests were struggling to find spaces.

Everything else. Requested a dog friendly room when booking and had a message from the hotel stating it’s £30/night for a dog stay even though it said £25 on their website. Requested a quiet room and got put next to the main air conditioning unit humming away outside our window. We were in room 221. When we got to the hotel and checked In at 8pm, the receptionist said there was no note that we were bringing our dog upon seeing him with us. I then showed the messages and said “ok, if there isn’t the dog facilities in the room I can send them up and it’s £25/night for the dog” we said ok. These never arrived so we had to use the hotel towels for him to sleep comfortably and go out and buy a container for him to have a drink from a local shop. We didn’t bring our dog bed/food bowls as it said we would get one when booking. 8:20pm we ordered room service. They took the order and phoned back 15 mins later telling us the kitchen couldn’t do our order as a lot of people had just come in the restaurant downstairs so we can’t do room service! We had just travelled from Leeds to Dundee 5 hours. My pregnant wife is 35 weeks and we were told to go and order in to the room or go out and get food. Not so easy with a dog and pregnant wife! We booked this hotel for its 4 star rating of which it should offer room service which we didn’t receive. I was then told by the receptionist after complaining that I can be give the details for the manager. I said they should be phoning me really not me having to chase them. Never received a phone call. Checked out and mentioned about the manager ans was given their card to phone/email.
