Great potential and location, but outdated facilities and poor maintenance made the stay disappointing.

The water pressure from the bathtub tap was very strong, which was appreciated. However, the hot water was inconsistent and only worked from time to time, so we often had to shower with cold water.

Unfortunately, our experience did not match the expectations of a 5-star property. The air conditioning was not working properly and had a very unpleasant smell when turned on. The WiFi was also unreliable and didn’t work for almost an entire day, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this category. We booked what was supposed to be the best villa, yet the sea view was very disappointing. The photos used in advertising are quite misleading and do not reflect the reality at all. The breakfast was also below expectations. There were no bacon or sausages available, and offering salmon as part of an “English breakfast” felt odd and not authentic. Additionally, there was no sparkling water available. The sofas in the bedroom were dirty, and the television felt extremely outdated — almost from another era — with no Netflix or any modern smart TV features. Overall, this property might have deserved a 5-star rating 10–12 years ago, but today it clearly does not meet that standard.

A divine pause, to reset, relax, and be truly present and grateful.

What a dream stay! I'm sure any moment I would wake up. Staff were exceptionally professional, kind, proficient, and helpful. I felt so nurtured and taken care of. The grounds and gardens are so special, the view from my villa is imprinted as what it would feel like to be in heaven. The mountains, sunset, infinity pool, ocean. I couldn't imagine how it could be possible. I felt like a movie star.

It was too far to walk to main area of Amed, however, the facility provides a one-way shuttle service to the centre (Approx 10-15 minutes drive maybe?) twice a day. There is no grab or gojek in Amed, and depending on the time of day, getting transport back was a little tricky and mainly by word of mouth.

Super stay

We had a lovely stay at The Griya. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The private pool was also nice and clean with a lovely view out to sea. The staff were all very polite, friendly and very keen to please. The food was also great with plenty of choice on the menu and very reasonable prices.

Some aspects of the property are starting to look a little tired. A lot of your room (ie. Bathroom, kitchen & TV area) are outside. This is fine until it's mosquito time.

Relaxing, luxurious, and ten times better than I was expecting.

This room felt very luxurious, spacious, beautifully decorated, and had the most fanatic views particularly to wake up to in the morning. Great attention to detail and attention to all your needs by the staff.

The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't get to stay longer.

Breathtaking view

Our stay at The Griya Villas & Spa was simply amazing. The views are breathtaking, the villas spacious and comfortable, and the whole place is surrounded by beautiful greenery. The staff were exceptionally kind, the spa experience was wonderful, and the food was absolutely delicious. A perfect tropical retreat that we would highly recommend.

On the plus side: great weather, lots of restaurants nearby, and the warmer climate in this region was a big advantage.

Our stay at the hotel was overall enjoyable, mainly thanks to the very spacious villa – lots of room, great views, and delicious food. Breakfast was included in the price, and the value for money was quite good considering the space and quality.

Unfortunately, the staff felt indifferent and lacked the warmth we experienced in places like Ubud, where the atmosphere was much friendlier and more welcoming. It was noticeable and slightly disappointing. Access to the rooms was a bit difficult – quite a steep uphill walk, so good fitness is a must. However, the hotel does offer transport with a golf cart, which helps. The beach isn't too far, but getting there also involves a steep road from the hotel. Scooter rental was possible, but we faced a few issues: the first scooter we got was damaged, the helmets were old and couldn't be fastened properly (one fell off during the ride), and the rental cost was significantly higher than elsewhere. Plus, there was no clear confirmation if the scooter would be available at the time we requested – we had to keep asking and following up ourselves. Again, this showed a lack of attention to customer service.

Fabulous view

The villa had a magnificent view of the sunrise and the Location on top of the hill. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. I loved the pool and the outdoor seating area.

Luxurious and comfortable

My partner and I stayed at this beautiful hotel for three nights and we absolutely loved it. The villas are very private with big comfy 6" beds and stunning views over to Lombok. We made the most of the happy hour cocktails and the food at the restaurant was excellent.

The service at dinner could have been better - the breakfast service was fantastic but we were disappointed on a couple of evenings where the staff didn't clear our plates after we finished and we had to go up and ask them to.

Lovely views & location, the private pool and villa is stunning - perfect for couples. Although the villa has partial sea view and mountain/jungle side view, the only disappointment was not facing the sunset however it was lovely nonetheless. Would recommend and stay again in future.

The villa was amazing!! I loved the care and thoughtfulness the staff put into creating a beautiful rose display and cake for our honeymoon. We LOVED the restaurant food, the yummy breakfast, and the happy hour roof hangout area with day beds. We felt so spoiled at Griya!

It’s hard to find anything I didn’t like but if I could name one thing it would be that the beds for the massages were a little uncomfortable and the gym was a little outdated. But really the property was amazing!

The villas are spectacular and were a great place to enjoy some privacy. The amenities, rooms, private pool, location, and most spectacular views did not disappoint. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

There was a timer on the water pump so there was no water in the night, but this issue was resolved the following day. The breakfast could have been better as they were out of some items, but was still good.
