Perfect relaxing and authentic stay to experience the charm of Bali

Good Karma is the best of Bali. Great views, great people, real life.

Spectacular outlook. Great staff. Surrounded by local fishing village life. Far enough South of the busy centre of Amed to feel relaxed. Great restaurant on site and others within walking distance also. Good sized pool and spectacular views. Massages on the verandah, snorkelling, fishing or sight seeing by boat available. Reasonably close to some lovely tourist attractions. But mostly it’s a place to stop, look, listen and relax.

Super-relaxing stay in very green beachside setting

From the setting the most relaxing place here in Bali, I ever stayed. Much green, standard bungalow with beachside setting, pool with view on the beach. People very nice and helpful (free pickup from 2km away), very nice snorkelling around (in last day three hours snorkellung from 6.30-09.30 I spotted three turtles): Food is delicious, Wifi worked very well, even for online meetings. Location spreads along the coast side for about 250 m with about 12-15 nicely located Bungalows of different price levels.

May be in the next months the madrass should be renewed, but that is really a minor. I still slept well and enjoyed every minute of my stay here.

Convenient for snorkeling

The reason to stay here is that you can walk straight out into the water from your bungalow and start snorkeling. The pool is also gorgeous. The bungalows are dated but very spacious.

I found the staff to be quite apathetic. When I asked about snorkel gear or taxis, they just shrugged. They also encourage beach hawkers to come and offer you their services, which can get annoying - I had one guy camp out on a sun lounger and watch me as I was sitting outside my bungalow. I found the same guy, taking a nap there too. Also, you are not near the main part of Amed so expect to pay premium prices to get a lift into town (Grab and Gojek are not allowed here) or if you are confident, take a motorbike. It is quite dark at night time and lots of things like boats and branches that you can trip over when walking from the restaurant back to your bungalow.

Authentic and within its own bay of coral.

Bali as it originally was ... And still is. Totally authentic. Good Karma has a history spanning 32 years, back when Amed was visited by only the intrepid. The founder Baba is still a font for Balinese traditions and happy to talk with guests.

Are very poor hotel room, all is very old: matrases, towels etc. Breakfast and Restorant is just ugly, I always respect local people but this was too much.. busy , bad smell , bad quality . The guys with boats asking so much money . AC works soo bad , was very hot in room. Was no bathtub. Shower need replacement, a lot of spider lines in toilet. Very ugly place if you like comfort

Nice hideaway in lake Batur close to hot springs and volcanoes

The bungalows and the pools were nice. The owners were extremely kind and sweet. Since we were in the middle of nowhere, it was hard to get around but they would take us anywhere we wanted. They never asked for money but we still gave them tips for each ride.

Our toilet didn’t work very well, it was hard to flush properly. We also didn’t have any hot water during our 3 night stay… The area is a farming area which attracts a lot of flies.

Location: bungalows open directly onto best coral snorkelling beach in the area Restaurant was fresh, varied, beachy and delicious, with Japanese, Balinese and western dishes Old skool 80’s beach bungalow styling. Huge outdoor bathroom.

Peaceful and cozy stay at the beach

The location and the whole vibe of Good Karma is wonderful. You live in a very cozy bungalow and you only have to step outside your door to have a lovely (and basically) private beach to yourself. It was very nice to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. We also enjoyed the restaurant a lot. Breakfast gives you plenty of options and for lunch/dinner you can choose from various cuisines. We highly recommend this place when you are staying in Amed.

Really not much to mention here. The only small struggle was getting to Good Karma as the roads are pretty bad up there. Hopefully that will be better in time since there was a lot of construction when we were there. Ultimately, be aware that finding a Grab or Gojek can be tricky.

Our stay was noisy, uncomfortable, and far from relaxing — we left feeling more exhausted than when we arrived.

The food was great and right on the beach which was beautiful

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing. We booked a room with two beds but were given one, which wasn’t what we reserved. A loud, three-day wedding took place right behind our room, making it impossible to rest. There was also a strong smell from rubbish and food left out, which attracted barking dogs and roosters all night. The water in the swimming pool was murky and uninviting. When we gave feedback, the owner seemed more interested in talking about himself than genuinely listening or addressing our concerns. While he apologised, it didn’t resolve the issues. This hotel needs work — we left feeling exhausted and wouldn’t recommend it.

Amazing staff, incredible food and stunning views

The staff were absolutely amazing! I have some mobility issues but I was so well looked after, especially by the beautiful girls in the restaurant, they went above and beyond my expectations and made my stay extra special. The food was incredible, each dinner more amazing than the last. Also not to mention the fabulous views across the gorgeous pool to the ocean and stunning sunrises. Clean comfortable villas as well with great lounges to relax on.

This isn't a problem for most but if you have mobility issues it's not an easy walk to villas as the path is blocked by fishing boats, you have to meander through a bit of an obstacle course. The aircon in villas are a bit pointless as the area is too large to cool down, fortunately the stand up fan was enough for myself of a night time

My favorite spot in Amed!

My favorite spot in Amed! This was my fourth time to Amed, and fourth time staying in Good Karma Bungalows. Upgraded to a villa this time, and it was well worth it, especially if you are staying for more than a few days and need space to work.

The villas need hammocks too!

Great family stay, Beachfront location

Location is amazing. Beachfront, beautiful views from the bungalow. Staff very friendly. Breakfast in the restaurant was nice! Amed is stretched out over 7 km and this hotel is a bit at the end of that. So a scooter comes in handy!

We had a wonderful experience - relaxing, sleeping to the sound of waves every night.

The breakfast was great. You could choose 2 meals and 1 drink. Egg, soup and jafel/sandwich choices.

You have to love nature and be happy with having insects and geckos in your room.

The bungalows are in a beautiful spot, facing the sea. Large and comfortable. Very good breakfast and good food at the restaurant. Nice staff.

The waste of water is unbelievable, from morning to evening there are guys watering not only plants, but also the road and pebble and stone passageways. A zero mark for not taking into consideration green issues.

We had the villa Infront of the pool which had a stunning outlook over the water.

The Aircon wasn't effective & we encountered a couple of very hot days so it was uncomfortable trying to sleep. The villa just needs some general maintenance, leaky toilet ...
